The Invitation to Open Your Heart

My dear children, I invite you to open your hearts wide. At Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, before one has reached the state of an awakened being—before one can truly perceive the world with a clear and luminous mind—it is essential that you learn to open your heart. By doing so, you allow your heart to perceive the world of light that exists beyond your current limited perspective. This openness allows your internal world to be bathed in the Buddha-light, enabling it to become peaceful, calm, and profoundly still.

The Infinite Landscape Within

The world within your heart is truly vast and immeasurable. It contains the boundless history of your past lives, stretching back through countless eons. Everything you have ever experienced, every person you have encountered, and every event you have witnessed remains stored within this heart. They have never truly left you; they reside there, waiting for the moment of resolution. When you open your heart, you create a space of profound peace and stillness. In this state, these countless beings connected to you by karmic affinity can receive the Buddha-light. Through this connection, they can be guided to rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, leaving their suffering behind to find true happiness.

Clearing the Shadows of the Past

Your heart is naturally transparent and free of burdens. It is capable of merging into a single "One" with all sentient beings. This is the state of emptiness, of having no-mind, of being an awakened being, where the light is infinite and eternal. However, this original nature is often obscured by the heavy weight of confusion, the reincarnated cycle of karma, and the force of karma. Your heart becomes layered with filth, stained by various personality traits and deep-seated habits. Because of these layers, you often see only darkness instead of light, evil instead of Goodness, and the bad instead of the good. You are trapped by your own perceptions, unable to see the purity that lies beneath.

The Path to Radiant Awakening

Now, as you engage in your practice, you must make the conscious choice to open your heart. Through being fiercely diligent in your practice, you can sweep away these layers of filth that have accumulated over lifetimes. This process of purification is the path you must walk. Do not be discouraged by the depth of the shadows, for the light of your true nature is always there, waiting to be revealed. If you remain steadfast in your practice, becoming an awakened being is within your reach. Keep your focus, maintain your sincerity, and continue to chant Namo Amituofo all the way. Namo Amituofo.
