Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju:
Originally pure, refers to the fact that the true self is inherently so.
The true self is originally without form, yet it can manifest all forms and contain all things.
Within a field of light, it can manifest the auspicious characteristics, dignity, and pure form,
and flows naturally with the without violating Universal Principles, Truth, and the Right Path.
The true self is pure, like water so clear that one can see the bottom; if there is the slightest stirring from the outside, one can perceive it,
and though may be stirred, the heart remains pure, untouched by defilements.
Originally pure, through the process of removing defilements bit by bit, this purity is revealed.
Because the inherent purity is obscured, it cannot manifest,
and in the process of purifying the contaminated Six Roots, there is also an opportunity to resolve conflicts with ,
because the karmic creditors see one's efforts to purify and remove defilements,
and are willing to resolve the conflict, enter the Buddha-light, and bring these karmic bonds to a conclusion.
Originally pure, there is not a single impure thought.
Impurity is that which harms others to benefit oneself,
if there are texts, images, sounds, or words that contaminate the Body, Speech, and Mind,
causing thoughts to be unwholesome, then one should avoid them, for they are contrary to the purity of the true self and interfere with the realisation of one's true nature.
Within the Body, Speech, and Mind, it is the arising of thoughts that drives the manifestation of physical actions and speech.
If thoughts are of Goodness, then physical actions and speech manifest as Goodness;
if thoughts are evil, then physical actions and speech manifest as evil.
Therefore, those who seek to realise their true nature must put in the work on their Body, Speech, and Mind, with the purification of the heart as the priority.
Because the delusion, discrimination, and attachment of beings arise in a continuous, uninterrupted stream,
Namo Amituofo, with great , uses the Buddha-name to halt the arising of the thoughts of beings,
by chanting one Buddha's name to the end, one receives the support of the Buddha’s majestic power and the power of merit to remove defilements and attain purity,
and attains the ability to see the face of that which is originally pure—the true self.
True self-purity is not sought externally, but is inherently complete within the heart,
it does not change due to time or space, and exists eternally within the unborn and undying,
and through continuous purification, one realises their true nature and sees the pure true self.
