The Path to Inner Stillness
Namo Amituofo offers these teachings to all beings. Whether your current state of body, mind, and spirit is peaceful and harmonious, burdened by hidden worries, or tossed by the turbulent waves of afflictions, the Buddha wishes for you to pass through these experiences safely and with a steady heart.
For those who are currently in a state of peace and harmony, it is my hope that you continue to dwell within the Buddha’s , allowing the power of chanting to sustain your tranquility. For those who carry heavy burdens or worries in their hearts, I hope that through the strength of chanting Namo Amituofo, you may learn to let go of these attachments and navigate this stage of your life with ease. For those who find themselves caught in the rising and falling tides of afflictions and emotional turmoil, I hope that the Buddha’s blessings will help you to calm these disturbances, allowing you to move through this difficult phase with a clear and settled mind.
The Foundation of Meditative Concentration
If you wish to pass through every second and every minute of your life with peace, you must ensure that your chanting becomes a continuous, flowing stream that never stops. By maintaining this practice 24/7, you will be able to suppress the afflictions, worries, and emotional fluctuations that arise within you. Over time, this practice will allow you to completely sever these attachments, leading to a state where you are no longer troubled by the waves of the world.
Regardless of how turbulent the external environment or your internal conditions may become, your heart will remain free from afflictions, free from worry, and free from agitation. You will find yourself dwelling in a state of constant peace and harmony. This is the true cultivation of meditative concentration. For any practitioner, this concentration is of the utmost importance. This is why the teaching to diligently practise (Discipline), Concentration and Wisdom, and to extinguish greed, anger, and delusion, is emphasised time and time again.
Navigating Challenges at the Centre
If you can follow these teachings, you will naturally reduce and avoid the mistakes that arise from failing to uphold the Precepts. You will also avoid the darkness of ignorance and the lack of wisdom that lead to the accumulation of sins, thereby sparing yourself the suffering of . If you are currently practising at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, and you encounter obstacles, or if you find yourself falling into a state of or drifting into other spaces, how can you pass through these situations safely?
You must look to the admonishments and guidance provided by Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su. Those who are truly faithful to the Buddha are those who are willing to listen and change their personality traits. Because they are willing to listen and transform themselves, they are able to navigate through difficult situations and overcome the states of drowsiness or mental drifting that often hinder one's practice.
Choosing the Path of Wisdom
Conversely, those who do not truly believe in the Buddha will reveal their lack of faith through their actions. They show that they are unable to listen to the Buddha’s counsel and are unwilling to put in the effort to change their personality. Consequently, their Body, Speech, and Mind remain exactly as they have always been. This is the characteristic of a being bound by , living according to the cycle of aging, sickness, and death, and suffering the consequences of the laws of karma and cause and effect.
You must repent quickly and cease these wrongdoings; do not let them continue. Students of Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, the choice is yours: will you pass through this life with peace, or will you continue to suffer under the weight of your own karma? You must use your wisdom to choose the right path.
