The Rhythms of the Infinite Realms

Namo Amituofo teaches us that we must learn to cherish our time and ensure that not a single moment passes in vain. The flow of time is not absolute; it varies significantly across different dimensions of existence. Because of this, the duration of a day is experienced differently depending on the realm in which a being resides. In the same span of time, different realms will have experienced vastly different numbers of days.

To understand this relativity, consider the following comparisons between the time experienced in various realms and the time experienced in the human world: the underworld, where one day is equivalent to thirty days in the human world; the Heaven of the Four Heavenly Kings, where one day is equivalent to fifty years; the Trayastrimsa Heaven, where one day equals one hundred years; the Yama Heaven, where one day equals two hundred years; and the Tushita Heaven, where one day equals four hundred years. As one ascends to higher heavenly realms, the flow of time becomes increasingly slow, meaning that a single day in those realms encompasses a much longer period of human time. This phenomenon reveals that time is not a fixed constant but a variable experience.

The Stillness of a Focused Heart

The speed at which time flows is fundamentally determined by the state of the heart of the beings within that space. When the heart of a being is calm, stable, and deeply focused, the flow of time slows down. In such a state, the environment and the phenomena surrounding that being unfold with a sense of profound stability, free from the turbulence of emotional waves. This is the secret to mastering one's experience of existence.

The Diligent Vows of Practitioner Su

You may wonder why Practitioner Su lives as if one day is two. This is because Namo Amituofo truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Through the dual-power method of the Pure Land, Practitioner Su is able to activate his own inner strength while receiving the infinite Buddha's of Namo Amituofo. Practitioner Su clearly perceives that the number of suffering beings is infinite. Therefore, within the limited time available, he strives to save these beings without allowing a single moment to be wasted. He seizes the opportunity of Namo Amituofo’s presence to rescue countless suffering beings.

Amidst the Storm of Demons

Even the demon crowds are objects of Practitioner Su’s compassionate rescue. In his practice of living one day as two, he has already saved countless demons. This is an act of total selflessness, where he forgets his own body and mind for the sake of others. Despite suffering the pain of being attacked by the spells cast by these demons, he continues to save them, guiding them into the Western Land of Nature. In truth, he should be met with gratitude and respect from all beings in the Dharma realm, including the demon crowds, rather than being subjected to attacks.

The Sacred Transformation of Every Thought

The spirit of Practitioner Su in saving beings and demons, his unwavering faith in the Buddha, his profound vows, and his actual deeds, serve as a perfect demonstration of the dual-power method of the Pure Land. All of you should strive to emulate this. The practice of (Discipline), Concentration and Wisdom, along with the skill of chanting Namo Amituofo, should be cultivated in your daily life. An essential method for developing this skill is to transform every single thought into the name of Namo Amituofo.

Often, our minds are filled with thoughts of , , and our emotions; delusional thoughts about the past and the future; or focusing on the faults of others and dwelling on our own regrets. Before one reaches , these thoughts and reflections are almost always inseparable from selfishness, self-interest, and the pursuit of worldly desires. Please, transform all of these into the recitation of Namo Amituofo. This is the true meaning of diligent practice and the most effective way to ensure that your time is not spent in vain. Through chanting Namo Amituofo, you will receive the Buddha's blessings, gain unique insights, and make significant progress in your purification and Awakening. Namo Amituofo.
