Rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss — Liu Yongdong (Father of Liu Xiaolong)

Lay Practitioner Liu Yongdong:

Namo Amituofo. My life was quite tumultuous, yet I have finally arrived in such a beautiful Buddha-land. My gratitude is beyond words. I am grateful to Namo Amituofo for so compassionately creating the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, giving us a place to call home. I am also grateful to Practitioner Su for your diligent practice in the human world and for realising your true nature and attaining Buddhahood, which has provided us with the Western Land of Dharma Nature to go to, and has allowed us, under your guidance, to come to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

These are things I never imagined would happen, yet they have truly unfolded before my eyes, and have happened to me. I left the human world in a hurry at the age of sixty-two, which marked the end of my life. I once thought I could live longer, but time truly waits for no one.

The beauty of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss before me makes me want to keep chanting "Namo Amituofo" in my heart, as I continue to explore the endless beauty of the Pure Land. Haha! I have only just arrived in this world today, yet I do not feel like a stranger at all. There is even a sense of belonging, making me feel as though I was once a part of this place, and now I have truly returned.

In this life, I did not learn the true Buddhist education, nor did I learn how to improve myself, and I failed to chant Buddha's name through my own efforts to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. However, I encountered the good fortune of my family knowing the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, and knowing Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su.

I am very grateful, and I thank my son for registering me for this Chao Du. There is no greater filial piety in the world than enabling one's parents to come to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, so they no longer have to suffer the pain of the six realms of rebirth. You have fulfilled this responsibility, and as a father, I am very comforted and very happy to have come to this place.

But all of this did not come easily! Anyone who has suffered in the world of darkness should understand this feeling. Although I was not suffering in hell, I was always in the dark world of ghosts, with no way out, living a life of confusion, panic, and helplessness. Many of us are like this, not knowing where to go next, and not knowing if one day we will suffer retribution in hell.

Therefore, I lived my days in fear. It was not until a Buddha-light shone upon me, calling out my name, Liu Yongdong, that I truly woke up and realised that I had truly received the salvation of the Buddha-light, and that there was truly a path to follow, so I no longer had to live a life of not knowing where to go.

After arriving in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I gained a new understanding of the Buddha and true Buddhist education. Seeing the skills of those in the world who have attained Buddhahood and save beings, I am deeply moved and very willing to learn. I am grateful for the compassion of Namo Amituofo and the compassion of Practitioner Su. Now that I no longer have a human body, I can only make a vow to practise even more diligently in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and no longer look back at the past. All of this is actually happening quite naturally. The world of Buddha or Bodhisattva is like this; it does not burden everyone with excessive feelings and thoughts. Today, I will just say a few brief words to everyone. I will continue my practice in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
