On March 27, 2026, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provided these profound teachings on the nature of our existence and the path to returning to our true selves.
The original appearance of all beings is inherently serene, free, and at ease. In that primordial state, there is not a single trace of worry or attachment. Instead, the heart is filled with the following qualities:
In this state, there is no self and no selfishness. When you look for , you cannot find it; instead, you see only a vast, radiant light. This is your original nature. It is not grow old, not get sick, and the spirit does not die. This is the true face you possessed before you were born into this world.
Conversely, the suffering of birth, aging, illness, and death is not your original appearance. These are merely the manifestations of karma. Karma itself is not your original nature; it was never meant to exist. It only arises because of the three poisons that cloud our hearts:
When these three arise, karma follows in their wake. The beings of the six realms of existence are not in their original state. Even the earthly creatures, the mountains and rivers, the raging fires, the frozen glaciers, and the demon crowds suffering within those realms—none of these are their original, true faces.
How, then, can you restore your original appearance? The fastest and most effective method is to put in the work within your own heart. Because the hearts of beings have been stained for so long, covered by layer upon layer of confusion and filth, you must engage in the practice of purification to remove these impurities.
For countless lifetimes, you have forgotten your true face. You have lost sight of your original, magnificent form. If you truly wish to restore it, you must focus your efforts on your inner practice. Life is short, and there is very little time to waste. If you can realise the urgency of this matter, you will cherish every minute and second. You will work diligently to peel away the layers of delusion, discrimination, and attachment to rediscover your original, magnificent appearance and your deep affinity.
Beings are lost in the ocean of karma, suffering endlessly because they have forgotten who they truly are. They do not realise that in their original state, regardless of where they are or what space they occupy, their nature is vast enough to encompass the infinite and the boundless.
At the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, Practitioner Su utilises the power of the to perform . This work helps earthly creatures, plants, trees, and all manner of beings to depart from their current space and return to their original nature. This is a truly magnificent and rare opportunity. To encounter such a path is the greatest fortune a being can have.
