The Ancient Demon's Surrender to the Light
An Interview with Mo Dun, a Primordial Demon of 7.2 Billion-Billion-Trillion Years
Recorded at the Western Land of Dharma Nature, March 16, 2026
This is a record of an interview with Mo Dun, an ancient demon who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. This account reflects upon his existence spanning approximately 7.2 billion-billion-trillion years. Recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe, on March 16, 2026.
Mo Dun speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Dun, an ancient demon from the Dharma Realm.
Seven point two billion-billion-trillion years is an incredibly long time. Yet, in the vastness of the Dharma Realm, I was merely one of many ancient demons. Why have I come to the Western Land of Dharma Nature at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, to be interviewed? It is a truly extraordinary turn of events.
A Wanderer in the Vastness
In the Dharma Realm, I used to observe the distant, expansive void, contemplating which planets to visit. Eventually, I discovered a very inconspicuous, tiny planet. I did not know its name at the time, but I travelled there to investigate. I discovered it was called Earth. This planet was small, beautiful, and remarkably blue.
I arrived on Earth approximately two hundred million years ago. By that time, my age in the Dharma Realm already marked me as an ancient demon of seven billion-billion-trillion years. I simply wanted to explore, to walk about. I found Earth to be quite unique, so I decided to stay.
The Evolution of a Planet
This world has undergone many changes. It transitioned from the era of dinosaurs through the deep freeze of the ice ages, eventually giving rise to new life. From the extinction of the dinosaurs to the rebirth of life, the land began to recover, and green vegetation sprouted—a sign that the planet was teeming with life once more. Later, humans gradually appeared, known then as 'ape-men' or 'primitive humans.' Eventually, the landmasses shifted, dividing into the regions and nations we see on the tectonic plates today.
The ancient land of China, among the nations of the current Earth, possesses five thousand years of recorded history. It is a truly unique country that has never been fully exterminated. About six thousand years ago, I was already residing within the space of China. For beings in the spiritual realms, surviving on Earth is quite easy, as Earth is a relatively young, new-generation planet compared to the countless, vast worlds in the Dharma Realm.
Building the Demon Palaces
At that time, I began to develop my demonic influence. Six thousand years ago, I started constructing demon palaces on this land. In truth, I had been building them since I arrived two hundred million years ago. Because I travelled everywhere, my palaces were scattered across every corner of the Earth.
Many demon crowds have existed alongside China from that time until now. Often, the fall of a nation is a reason for demonic beings to seek new developments. However, since China has stood firm, surviving numerous plagues and violent upheavals to exist to this day, it must have its own history of development. This history is clearly visible:
War and the replacement of dynasties: The casualties of the people can be seen as the elimination and renewal of species. Consequently, new humans and new characters have constantly emerged, evolving into the civilization and technology we see today.
The support of ethics and morality: In my view, the ethics and morality of China are the most important reasons why this country has been able to survive until now.
The Strategy of Destruction
Therefore, what demonic beings do is destroy and corrupt. Destroying China's ethics and morality so that demonic beings can thrive on this land is a matter of great importance. Thus, in modern history, many wars, human mutual slaughter, and conflicts between nations have all involved the participation of demonic beings. Naturally, this included my own followers—including old demons, great demons, Demon King, and their demon children and grandchildren.
As an ancient demon, leading so many old demons, great demons, Demon King, and their descendants requires a clear direction. That direction is to allow the nation to continue to exist, but only under our 'control,' rather than allowing it to survive through the power of the True Teachings or the Buddha's teachings. Once the Buddha's teachings exist, they inevitably counteract the influence and expansion of the Demon Realm.
Therefore, the modern suppression of religion in China is also an intervention by demonic forces. If not for the participation of demonic beings, it would be very difficult to control this land, given the profound virtues of the ancestors who protected their homes and cherished their descendants, and the deep power they bestowed upon future generations. Human hearts are the most important factor influencing a nation's survival, especially those of kings and leaders.
The Arrival of the Buddha's Light
Consequently, the demonic strategy for China was to control its leaders, compelling them to destroy or hinder the development of the Buddha's teachings. Demonic beings fear nothing in heaven or on earth, except for the Buddha. I never expected that I, Mo Dun, would encounter this reality in my own life, seeing it come to pass.
In reality, Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su suddenly appeared on Chinese territory. Practitioner Su, using the and the power of his own countless manifestations, swept through the demon palaces in every province of China. Practitioner Su is too clever, too wise. He knows that the negativity and darkness in human hearts exist because of the control of demonic beings.
If one wishes for the people to live well, to develop positively, and for the Buddha's teachings to flourish, the primary task is to first subdue the demonic beings. Only then can the hearts of the people be free from the control of magic. Modern Chinese history has indeed evolved in this way. Moreover, many of these were ancient or old demons who had invaded from outside; the indigenous demonic beings of China were quite easy to manage and were all subdued under our Demon King and their demon children and grandchildren. This is the law of 'the strong are kings, and the defeated are bandits.' Since their power was weaker than ours, they naturally had to obey us.
The Power of
The power of Practitioner Su lies primarily in his firm vow, backed by a powerful pillar—Namo Amituofo. The compassion, wisdom, and virtue of the Buddha's teachings are exactly what demonic beings lack. Therefore, once the Buddha-light shone, combined with the radiance of Practitioner Su's countless manifestations and the blessing of Namo Amituofo, the power was truly immeasurable and boundless. No matter how solid the demon palaces were, they could not resist and were instantly reduced to nothing. This is difficult to understand in the physical world, but in the intangible spiritual realms, all of this is illusory. Since it comes from illusion, it must also vanish into illusion. This seems to be one of the Universal Principles of the righteous path.
When I saw with my own eyes the demon palaces being destroyed, I did feel a bit of reluctance, but what could I do? This was only possible because of the appearance of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I had no time to think, as I was caught in the middle of it; once touched by the Buddha-light, I was taken away. It happened very quickly. Many Demon King and their demon children and grandchildren were busy with their own affairs in the palaces, and after the palaces were destroyed, they were all taken away as well.
A Seed for the Path
The existence of Namo Amituofo is known to many ancient and old demons in the Demon Realm. Many demonic beings have been saved or subdued by Namo Amituofo, or are those who have 'heard of him but never seen him.' This is a common occurrence.
As for me, when I was still an inconspicuous little demon in the Dharma Realm, I had also chanted the Buddha-name. Now, listening to Practitioner Su teach the Dharma in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I often hear: 'The , once it enters the ear, becomes a seed for the Path forever.' As long as sentient beings can hear it, the six-character name of Namo Amituofo gives them the opportunity to receive the Buddha's salvation, liberation, and relief from suffering.
This is truly the compassion of the Buddha, having made such a vast vow, which makes it possible for so many ancient demons, Demon King, and demonic beings to be saved, including Mo Dun. Today, many users of technology and the internet have the opportunity to receive the nourishment of the Buddha's teachings because they have heard the six-character Buddha-name, 'Namo Amituofo.'
Gratitude and Final Reflections
It seems that no matter how powerful an ancient demon's magic may be, it cannot withstand the infinite tolerance and compassion of the Buddha's teachings. Namo Amituofo now abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Various interview materials, including this interview with Mo Dun, as well as accounts of how China was saved by Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su and how the demon palaces were destroyed, will be presented on the Hsiang Kuang website. There are various Dharma Jewels available; everyone should take a look, as there will be immense benefits.
Today, I, Mo Dun, am here to express my sincere prostrations to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su for their infinite tolerance and compassion in subduing countless ancient and old demons and sending them to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. To have a lotus seat to sit upon, to be able to listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma, and to be able to observe the and see Practitioner Su deliver demonic beings—every bit of this moves Mo Dun deeply.
Namo Amituofo.
Mo Dun"
