The Fluid Essence of

The essence of the Buddha-heart is like water—fluid, adaptable, and boundless. Just as water conforms to the shape of its vessel, the Buddha-heart conforms to the needs of all beings, manifesting in countless forms to guide them toward the Truth. When a Buddha or teaches, this fluidity allows them to engage with the world effectively, putting their compassion into action.

This is the fundamental principle for all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and those who have realised their true nature. A teacher who clearly understands this truth will not be swayed or confused by the complex emotions and behaviours of others. They remain unmoved, maintaining their meditative concentration without allowing their heart to be disturbed by the ripples of the world.

The Unchanging Nature of the Buddha-heart

The Buddha-heart is like water, and its nature remains constant regardless of the temperature. Whether it is cold, hot, or frozen, the fundamental nature of water does not change. Similarly, the Buddha-heart remains pure and stable regardless of the circumstances. When the Buddha observes the suffering of beings, He perceives their individual potential and manifests accordingly. He may appear in the form of the being He is helping, or in a form with which the being has a karmic affinity. By taking on these various forms, He performs the work of teaching to help beings leave suffering behind.

The Power of Gentle Guidance

We often hear of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas entering the various realms of existence, manifesting as celestial beings, animals, birds, or humans. These manifestations are purposeful acts of compassion designed to inspire trust, allowing the being to receive the and be saved. The Buddha-heart is like water—soft and yielding. Yet, do not underestimate this gentleness; just as a single drop of water can eventually wear through solid stone, the persistent, gentle guidance of the Buddha-heart can penetrate even the most hardened of hearts.

Restoring Original Purity

The Buddha-heart is like water in its ability to adapt, yet it never loses its inherent Buddha-nature. It is inclusive, equal, and free from discrimination. It is a light that is bright and clean. The Dharma-water has the power to wash away the deep-seated stains of our past , helping all beings cleanse their minds and spirits to recover their original, bright, and pure nature. By following this path, we too can learn to let our hearts become like water—clear, calm, and ever-ready to serve the needs of all suffering beings.
