The Fruit of
A heart that is clear, bright, transparent, and untainted is the true manifestation of the fruit of Awakening in one's practice. My children, to what extent have you truly come to understand the nature of your own heart? It is a fundamental question that every practitioner must ask themselves as they walk the path of the Buddha.
Cultivating Unwavering Purity
Amidst your diligent practice and the constant tests you face, you must strive to maintain a state of purity at all times. Do not allow any external environment to cause your heart to ripple with emotion or attachment. To possess such skill is to have achieved true success in your practice. You must continue to strive with diligence. Face the situations that arise after your state of mind has shifted, and persist until you reach full Awakening.
The Transformation of the Heart
When the heart is awakened, naturally manifests. This is vastly different from the state of a heart that is still tainted by defilements. We can observe the profound difference in these two states:
- The Tainted Heart: In this state, every thought is focused solely on . One is driven by the and the , constantly seeking personal gain and comfort.
- The Awakened Heart: In this state, every action is dedicated to the benefit of all beings. One acts with the vast, selfless intention of Bodhicitta, seeking only to help others leave suffering behind and find happiness.
The difference between a tainted heart and an awakened heart is profound, and it is the defining characteristic of one's spiritual progress.
Walking the Path of Compassion
In your practice, you must see all things clearly. Protect this heart well and move forward directly along the path. Do not neglect even a single thought, for the quality of your mind determines the quality of your life. You must immediately distinguish between purity and impurity, for the laws of and cause and effect are clearly manifest before your eyes.
An awakened heart is the mark of one who has realised their true nature. With this clarity, you must move forward directly to save the world and rescue all beings. Namo Amituofo.
