Great Compassion in Action, Saving All Beings; Hoping for the Restoration of Buddhist Affinity in the Divine Land
To walk the path of the Buddha is to walk a path of profound awareness. You must first come to a deep and honest understanding of your own heart and the nature of your thoughts. Without this internal clarity, your practice remains superficial. You must clearly understand the direction of your practice, ensuring every step you take aligns with the ultimate goal of rebirth in the . Furthermore, you must grasp the vital importance of saving yourself while simultaneously working to save all suffering beings. This dual commitment is the heart of the .
You must be entirely honest about your current situation, recognising exactly where you stand on your journey. You must understand how to improve your practice and how to break through the obstacles that hinder your progress. Above all, you must understand that practice is a deeply personal journey. No one can walk this path for you, and no one can replace your own efforts. You are the master of your own destiny, and your progress depends entirely on your own sincerity and diligence.
You must understand the reality of being reincarnated through the six realms of rebirth. You have endured the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death—a cycle where you often lack the power to control your own destiny. You must understand that all laws of karma and cause and effect are of your own making; you reap exactly what you sow. The karma you have created over countless lifetimes is as vast as the empty sky and as deep and heavy as the great ocean. The you have harmed have suffered endlessly because of your past actions, and it is your duty to seek balance and liberation for them.
You must understand the magnificent affinity you have found here at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. To encounter , to receive the guidance of your teacher, and to work alongside Practitioner Su is a rare and precious blessing. You must understand that you must not fail the responsibilities you have taken on by coming to Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in this lifetime. Do not waste time with empty words; simply act with sincerity and diligence. Do not let your heart be clouded by comparisons, discriminations, or negative judgments. When you see things that appear to be wrong, look inward rather than outward.
You must hold tight to the Buddha-name, Namo Amituofo, and apply yourself with diligent practice. Focus on the purification of your heart, your thoughts, your body, your actions, and your speech. This process of purification must be continuous—purify, and then purify again. Without this purity, even a single trace of defilement will prevent you from becoming an awakened being. Purity is the very foundation of . All disciples must understand this truth clearly. May you take these words to heart and transform your life through the power of the Buddha-name.
