The Compassion of Dharma Body Deliverance: An Interview with Venerable Changgao
An Interview with Venerable Changgao
Recorded on May 7, 2023
This is a record of an interview with Venerable Changgao, who reflects upon the profound nature of the deliverance performed by Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on May 7, 2023.
Venerable Changgao speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. The heart of Practitioner Su is truly the Buddha-heart. Practitioner Su possesses a physical body and has made the most magnificent Ultimate Vow. Seeing the immense suffering of sentient beings, Practitioner Su feels a deep, profound , and under the strength of this vow, works tirelessly to save beings from their agony.
In the past, I also held a wish to help sentient beings, but my vow was not as vast as that of Practitioner Su. Naturally, the number of beings I could save was vastly different. Every single being, every single spirit—no matter where they are currently trapped—has endured the cycle of rebirth time and time again, with no way to find liberation. Now, with Namo Amituofo residing in the world, and under the Ultimate Vow of Practitioner Su, this Body deliverance is able to help these beings find liberation and leave suffering behind. This magnificent Causal Condition is truly something that is difficult to encounter in millions of years.
The Desperate Cry for Deliverance
These spirits are acutely aware of the preciousness of this great Dharma. They come in vast numbers, kneeling and begging Practitioner Su for , their voices chanting the holy name of Namo Amituofo without pause. When they possessed a human body, they never had the opportunity to hear the Buddha’s teachings, or the teachings they did hear were insufficient to help them achieve liberation. Consequently, they continued to suffer in the cycle of rebirth, with almost no chance of escape. Now that they have encountered Practitioner Su, every spirit understands that they must seek liberation. They cling to Practitioner Su, refusing to let go. As a result, Practitioner Su’s body feels the presence of these spirits daily; although they do not enter the physical body, the space surrounding Practitioner Su is completely filled with spirits urgently pleading for deliverance.
The beings in the hells suffer brutal, heavy punishments every single second. The sins they committed in the past are being tallied one by one in the hells, and they are subjected to cruel and horrific tortures. These beings did not know how to change their ways while they were alive, or perhaps they knew they had done wrong but never truly repented. After losing their human body, without the influence of the physical form, their spirits feel deep, intense remorse. Yet, the sins have already been committed, and they must taste the bitter fruit of their actions, enduring the appropriate tortures within the hells.
The Light Within the Abyss
Practitioner Su, in great compassion, sends the Dharma Body into the hells to rescue these suffering beings. The scale of the hells is so vast that one cannot see the boundaries. Take the Copper Pillar Hell, for example; as far as the eye can see, it is filled to the brim with sinners undergoing their retribution, their wails echoing endlessly.
I have also witnessed a massive group of spirits being chased and torn apart by a pack of wolves. They scream and run frantically, but no matter how fast they flee, they are no match for the speed of these ferocious wolves. They are quickly overtaken, and every piece of flesh, every bone, is torn to shreds. Then, in a horrific cycle, they are restored to their original state, only to run and scream again, before being torn apart and devoured once more.
A Chance to Begin Again
It is a blood-chilling scene, and the suffering of these spirits is truly endless. Because they were 'wolf-hearted' and cruel in their past lives, they now endure this retribution in the hells. No matter how they cry out, until their sentence is fully served, they have no chance of being saved.
However, the moment the Dharma Body of Practitioner Su arrives, the Buddha-light illuminates the hells. Many of the beings undergoing retribution look up at this Buddha-light, and those who truly repented and were willing to follow the chanting of Namo Amituofo were all rescued by Practitioner Su. They quickly followed the Buddha-light and departed, no longer needing to suffer in the hells. This is the compassion of Practitioner Su—a truly great compassion that gives every being who is willing to repent and change their ways a chance to start over in a new destination.
Practitioner Su’s Dharma Body deliverance reaches every place of extreme suffering. Many of the spirits in these spaces have been suffering for a very long time, and without this deliverance, it would be impossible for them to find liberation. Every day, as I follow Practitioner Su in this work of Dharma Body deliverance, I am filled with immense admiration. This is a great blessing for all sentient beings, and I feel such on their behalf.
Namo Amituofo."
