Teachings from , recorded by Venerable HaiZe on February 3, 2023.
Students of the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, you reside within a magnificent environment of profound affinity. Through the recent insights gained from the interviews with the Demon King, and by witnessing the process through which Practitioner Su uses his selfless heart, great , and great wisdom to subdue these forces, you have been given a rare opportunity to learn.
You have begun to understand what a demon truly is. You are learning to recognise the existence of demon crowds and, more importantly, you are beginning to feel and realise how your own the "self," personal ego, and selfishness are often in sync with this demon nature. If you do not change your ways and transform these deep-seated habits, you will remain vulnerable. External demons can easily invade your body, and even your own internal demon nature or the demon crowds you have attracted can cause severe damage to your Body-Mind-Spirit. This damage creates obstacles to your practice, hinders your diligent practice, and may even cause you to regress on the path.
Everything that happens to you is governed by the laws of and cause and effect. You must possess wisdom and awareness. You should understand the terrifying nature of the causes you create and the fruits you must eventually bear. You must make a firm, unwavering decision to thoroughly change your "self," personal ego, and selfishness; do not allow even the slightest chance for these negative patterns to persist.
You must understand the critical importance of not attracting negative connections, , spiritual attachments, or demon crowds. When these forces manifest in your life, they bring forth the bitter fruits of suffering. Even if you are currently stubborn, refusing to listen to counseling, and find yourself suffering from the presence of karmic creditors, chronic illness, or even the signs of death, there is still a way forward.
If you can truly engage in repenting, change your ways, and make sincere vows, the Buddha or and your true spiritual friend can assist you. By helping you, they are also effectively saving the demon crowds and karmic creditors residing within you. They guide these beings into the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, allowing you to develop right thoughts and right actions, thereby finding salvation and leaving suffering behind.
You must realise how rare and precious it is to receive the constant, unwavering care and guidance of the Buddha or Bodhisattva and your true spiritual friend. This is a blessing that is difficult to encounter in a thousand lifetimes. However, all of this ultimately depends on your own diligent practice and your willingness to change. Only when you initiate the effort from within can the Buddha or Bodhisattva and your true spiritual friend apply their strength to guide you back onto the right track and return you to the Buddha's path.
Once you pick up the Buddha-name again, you will find that the Buddha's are infused within the chanting. As long as you seize this opportunity, remain active and persistent, and ensure your chanting of the Buddha-name is uninterrupted, you will be able to transform karma. Only by achieving the state of an awakened being and attaining Buddhahood can you truly save yourself, save others, and guide all beings to the Western Pure Land.
