The Confession of a Primordial Demon

This is a record of an interview with Mo Gui-sen, a Primordial Demon of 953 billion trillion years, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This account reflects upon his role in the 2011 Japan earthquake. Recorded by Venerable Fa Hui on May 24, 2026.

Mo Gui-sen speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Nine hundred fifty-three billion trillion—that is such a staggering, incomprehensible number. It leaves me utterly astonished. I never realised that I had been surviving in the Demon Realm for such an unfathomable stretch of time. If the great Namo Amituofo had not revealed this figure to me, I would have completely forgotten just how deep my history in the Demon Realm truly runs.

Naturally, the longer one lives in the Demon Realm, the more negative karma one has accumulated. It is absolutely impossible to have performed any good deeds, as that would be entirely inconsistent with the ecology of the demon world. Once you enter the Demon Realm, you only become more pronounced in your demon nature. Under such conditions, the longer a demon lives, the stronger their demonic power becomes, and the more blood-soaked, deep-seated grudges they carry upon their shoulders.

A Life Measured in Billions of Trillions

Throughout my nine hundred fifty-three billion trillion years of existence in the Demon Realm, I can honestly say that I have committed every imaginable evil. In the past, I viewed these acts as my greatest achievements—destroying entire planets, orchestrating catastrophic natural disasters, occupying territories, and colonising their inhabitants to use them as my personal energy sources. I have done it all. I used to share these 'triumphs' with my demon followers, telling them that I was their role model. I told them that if they wanted to become a super-ancient demon like me, they had to possess the same boldness and audacity to commit such monumental deeds.

But now, these past achievements that I once took such pride in have become heavy shackles upon my soul. They represent an immeasurable, boundless number of vengeful spirits who are waiting to seek revenge against me. To me, they are my 'karmic creditors.' The moment I am reborn into a human body, they will enter my very cells at the moment of my birth, waiting for the perfect opportunity to exact their retribution. Heavens! Knowing this truth, I am trembling from head to toe, and cold sweat is pouring down my back. No one had ever told me before that creating such sins would lead to such terrifying consequences.

The Responsibility of a Demon Lord

Of course, in the cutthroat, kill-or-be-killed environment of the Demon Realm, and under the constant reinforcement of demon nature, even if someone had tried to counsel me to stop, I would never have listened. After all, when you possess the power to turn the clouds and rain at will, there is no reason to stop. Furthermore, if I did not create evil, where would a demon like me derive my energy? This is a fundamental question that cannot be ignored. Even the vast numbers of demon kings, demon children, and grandchildren who follow me—where do they get their energy? This is one of my primary responsibilities.

Do not be fooled by our reputation; although we demons are indeed wicked, it is much like a gang leader having a basic responsibility to protect his subordinates and ensure they are fed. As a leader in the Demon Realm, I naturally have that same basic responsibility toward my demon kings, children, and grandchildren. Under these circumstances, I have always carried a certain level of pressure. I could not afford to fail or be defeated, because if I were to fall, the survival of all those who followed me would face a corresponding crisis.

The Light of the Western Land

The reason I am able to sit here in the Western Land of Dharma Nature and accept this interview with the Venerable is due to Practitioner Su’s compassionate vow to perform Chao Du for the victims of the Japanese nuclear disaster and the floods. When Practitioner Su made this vow, I felt a resonance in the darkness, and I moved with incredible speed to orbit the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre.

I never expected Practitioner Su to be so sensitive and aware. He quickly detected my presence and quietly brought me into the Western Land of Dharma Nature. Under the power of the brilliant light emitted by Practitioner Su and Namo Amituofo, I had no ability to resist. In an instant, I found myself sitting upon a lotus seat in the Land of Dharma Nature.

Sitting on that lotus seat felt extraordinary. The environment here is unlike any world I have ever inhabited; it is far too pure, beautiful, and radiant. It is completely different from the dark, deep worlds and spaces that we demons are accustomed to. Yet, I can feel that my soul does not resent this transformation. Under the illumination of the Buddha-light in the Land of Dharma Nature, I feel my soul becoming incredibly comfortable and refreshed. Following this, the thick, glowing black light and dark energy that I carried began to diminish at an incredible speed, just like snowflakes meeting boiling water—dissolving into nothingness in the blink of an eye.

The Truth Behind the 2011 Japan Earthquake

I have not had much time since arriving here to deeply understand the Western Land of Dharma Nature or the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, but what I have learned so far has left me in shock. Most importantly, I have learned that the King of the Dharma Realm, Namo Amituofo, is currently residing at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. This is because, during the Dharma assembly, Practitioner Su is using his countless manifestations to perform great Chao Du throughout the vastness of the Dharma Realm, the Milky Way, and across the Earth. It is because Practitioner Su’s vow and Buddha-heart are in sync with Namo Amituofo that he is able to manifest Namo Amituofo’s presence in this world.

This is truly astonishing news, yet I do not reject it. When I was still a 'little demon' in the Dharma Realm, I had already heard of the King of the Dharma Realm, Namo Amituofo. Legend had it that one day, Namo Amituofo would appear in the world and use his inconceivable power to save immeasurable, boundless beings. I always believed in this prophecy, yet after such a long time, I had never seen any signs. I never imagined that under these circumstances, I would actually get to see Namo Amituofo.

So, Namo Amituofo is right here on this tiny planet, Earth! Do not underestimate Earth because of its size; it is home to Practitioner Su, who has realised his true nature and attained Buddhahood in a human body. This represents a super-powerful force for saving beings. The proof is the great Chao Du that Practitioner Su performed during the Dharma assembly—it truly broadened my horizons as a demon. I never imagined that a single person could cultivate to such a realm. Is this the power of the Buddha’s teachings? Is the power of the Buddha’s teachings truly this vast? I never knew that a practitioner of the Buddha’s teachings could exert such great power to save beings, provide them with real benefits, and even save immeasurable, boundless demon crowds.

Yes, what I, Mo Gui-sen, witnessed from my lotus seat in the Land of Dharma Nature—the scenes that left me dumbfounded—were the manifestations of Practitioner Su. It was an immeasurable, boundless golden army, each one looking exactly like Practitioner Su. Not just on Earth, but throughout the vastness of the Dharma Realm and the Milky Way, I saw Practitioner Su’s countless manifestations turn into a sky full of golden light, saving immeasurable, boundless sentient beings, including many, many demons. Many of these demons were sent by Practitioner Su to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. It is exactly as Practitioner Su said—it is like 'pouring water.' But from what I have seen, I think comparing it to a tsunami or a flood is a more accurate description of such a magnificent scene.

Oh! Speaking of tsunamis, I am no stranger to that. Although I am a demon born and bred in the Dharma Realm, I am not unfamiliar with Earth, because I once came here in the past, bringing my demon kings and my demon children and grandchildren, and we had quite an operation running on Earth. As the world knows, the 2011 Japan earthquake was actually orchestrated by me. Although I am a demon, I am actually quite clear about the existence of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. It is not just me; any ancient demon who has lived for a long time is basically very clear that there is an irresistible force in the universe—perhaps we can call it the power of Truth, or the Universal Principle. We all know that this force exerts an irresistible influence on all beings living in the vastness of the Dharma Realm, and the power of the laws of karma and cause and effect is one of them.

Under these premises, it would actually be impossible for me, Mo Gui-sen, to cause a massive tsunami or a massive earthquake on my own. It requires the collective karma of the people, and when the appropriate conditions are ripe, I use my demonic power to fan the flames and give it a massive push. That is how a physical natural disaster that was already quite serious becomes even more catastrophic. Indeed, the original Japan earthquake might not have developed to such an extent, but because I and my subordinate demon kings, children, and grandchildren intervened, it triggered a massive tsunami and even caused the nuclear power plant explosion.

People have many imaginations about demons, many of which do not match the facts and often come from movies, novels, or comics. In these works, demons are often described as having unimaginable supernatural powers that can produce various magical effects on matter. I will not directly deny this, but it is clear that ordinary people do not have a clear and correct understanding of how demons intervene in human life and the ways in which they cause harm to humans or the environment. In fact, all life in the vastness of the Dharma Realm must abide by the Universal Principle and the Truth. If someone can thoroughly understand these principles and truly master these laws, making their character, conduct, and speech all in sync with the ultimate power of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, then they are the most powerful existence in the vastness of the Dharma Realm. And that existence, I can now say without hesitation, is a 'Buddha.' Indeed, Buddhas and demons can be said to be two opposing existences. However, ancient demons like us, after gaining a little understanding of the power of cause and effect and the Universal Principle, actually hold a sense of awe toward Buddhas. Especially toward an awakened being like a Buddha, we would never dare to show the slightest disrespect. If we encounter one, we would never go head-to-head; instead, we would find an appropriate time to retreat. That is what a wise demon should do. The fundamental reason for the 2011 Japan earthquake was the agitation of the human heart. This is the principle that the Buddha’s teachings speak of: 'All phenomena are created from the mind.'"

If the hearts of the people in a region are stable and at peace, it is impossible for intense earthquakes and tsunamis to occur. When massive natural disasters arise, it is inevitably because the hearts of the people in that region are filled with too many evil thoughts and are restless and agitated. Regarding the earthquake in particular, the so-called 'shaking of heaven and earth'—where the violent tremors even triggered massive tsunamis reaching fourteen or fifteen metres in height—the root cause was the deep-seated anxiety and volatility within the hearts of the Japanese residents at that time.

The Roots of Despair and Digital Control

Looking back at Japan during that period, I, the demon Guisen, could clearly see that the general populace was under immense pressure due to economic stagnation. In the economic climate of the time, many companies adopted various measures to cut labour costs. I could clearly see the profound sense of despair and that flicker of dark belief deep within the hearts of many young people and office workers in Japan. They generally held little hope for the future, and their hearts were, in truth, extremely heavy and unsettled.

Driven by these various pressures, many people, unable to resolve the difficulties they encountered in real life or face the blows of reality, began to seek solace in technological products.

In the years leading up to the great earthquake, a social media platform developed by our demon crowds had actually been launched in Japan and was seeing further development. I keenly observed the potential benefits it could bring to our demon crowds: when people used this social media, the various behaviours they exhibited—including posting information and the fluctuations of belief and selfishness that arose when viewing information posted by others—all became entry points for us to exploit.

The Strategy of Influence

At that time, in order to get large numbers of Japanese people to use this social media platform developed by our demon crowds, I adopted the following method: I sought out well-known figures from various fields, including celebrities from the entertainment industry, political figures, and even prominent individuals in the technology sector. I controlled them to take the lead in using this social media, allowing a vast number of Japanese people to become acquainted with and familiar with this tool.

Very quickly, within just a year or two, a massive number of Japanese people began using this platform. For me at the time, this was a highly successful operation. It was not complex at all, nor was it difficult; one could say it was achieved without any effort whatsoever.

Because the Japanese economy was performing poorly at the time and many people felt helpless about the future, under such circumstances, as long as I slightly agitated that sense of anxiety and fear within their hearts, I could make them throw themselves into this platform all at once.

The Demon's Grip

Once these people began using the platform, they became subjects under the control of our demon crowds, causing our demonic power to grow significantly. The information that these people posted while using social media and this platform was, of course, mostly not anything beneficial to sentient beings; it was essentially just the mundane affairs of the world.

If a person does not understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, when they come into contact with convenient internet technology or popular social media, they are often prone to committing many sins, and this is exactly what we, the demon crowds, love to see. Taking advantage of such opportunities, the demon kings and demon children and grandchildren under my command could easily enter these people's bodies and control their thoughts and behaviours.

Within a short span of two years, the demon kings and demon children and grandchildren under my command controlled a vast number of Japanese people, strengthening the negative beliefs and feelings of anxiety within their hearts. This intense helplessness and sense of insecurity made them listen to us and commit more acts that harmed both others and themselves.

The Necessity of Spiritual Healing

Of course, from a human perspective, people often commit sins without even knowing it, unaware that they have long been under the control of our demon crowds. Indeed, without having received moral education from a young age, or the education on the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way now taught at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, those who have been entered by demons find it truly difficult to perceive the deviations in their own mental notes and behaviours. They often only realise this after they have been controlled to a very severe degree. By then, it is already too late, because too many demon crowds have entered their bodies, and the degree of control is too deep to turn back.

If one does not encounter an awakened being like Practitioner Su of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, who is capable of subduing demonic enemies and inviting spirits for others—that is, implementing what is called spiritual healing—then those who are controlled often have no chance of turning around.

At that time, under my orders, the demon kings and demon children and grandchildren under my command controlled a large number of Japanese citizens, making them even more unsettled in their hearts. We made them spread this intense anxiety, their helplessness regarding the future, and even their dissatisfaction with the social status quo to more places, causing more people to be influenced by hearing their voices, thereby generating negative mental notes and even producing feelings of anxiety in their own hearts.

The Escalation of Disaster

As long as people have such feelings in their hearts, we, the demon crowds, have an opportunity to exploit. Using this method, in a short period, I allowed intense anxiety to permeate the whole of Japan. At that time, I had already foreseen that a natural disaster would occur in the near future, generated by the Collective Karma of the Japanese people at the time, but for me, this was not enough.

Thus, I planned to influence the Japanese heart in advance, making their hearts fluctuate and feel unsettled, swinging east and west, rising and falling without finding peace. Under the operation of this strategy, I successfully made the intensity of the earthquake much stronger than it would have been otherwise. This was due to the fluctuating energy caused by the restlessness and agitation of human hearts, which in turn exacerbated the intensity of the earthquake at the time. And I also took advantage of the opportunities following the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster to control even more Japanese citizens.

Repentance and the Path to Salvation

Now in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I repent deeply in my heart. The past me was truly too deluded; I actually committed such heavy sins and harmed so many people. Now, in my heart, I only think about how I can repay such sins. Perhaps I can never repay them; after all, I controlled so many people. When I have the chance to be reborn and get a human body, what kind of fate will I have to face?

Thinking about it makes me feel afraid in my heart. However, now on the lotus seat, the warm Buddha-light shines upon my soul, and I feel my heart becoming more and more stable and peaceful. This is a very special feeling for me, because as an ancient demon who has committed so many sins, my heart is often very unsettled; but I cannot be influenced by these feelings. I must use my meditative concentration to keep myself in a deep meditative state at all times, and even for very long periods, I have spent my time in samadhi. The reason for doing this is to avoid being found by the power of the laws of karma and cause and effect.

However, I am quite lucky. In the Western Land of Dharma Nature, there are also very many ancient demons and old demons, some of whom have even deeper seniority than I did when I was in the Demon Realm. When I first arrived at the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I received a transmission from a senior from the Demon Realm whom I had known in the Dharma Realm. They briefly introduced the situation here to me and told me not to worry; as long as I can listen well to the Dharma talks by Practitioner Su and take the principles taught by Practitioner Su to heart, I will be able to find a chance for salvation.

Hope for the Future

So now, I am very much looking forward to the moment when Practitioner Su gives a Dharma talk. After all, we are currently in the middle of a Dharma assembly; in ordinary times, Practitioner Su spends more time in the vastness of the Dharma Realm and various parts of the universe performing Chao Du.

I am very fortunate to have been able to come to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. I am very relieved that many of the citizens who were harmed because of me during the March 11 earthquake in Japan—the souls of those victims—have many of them been received into the Western Land of Dharma Nature under the sounding of the qing by Practitioner Su for Chao Du. I see many of them in the bright magnetic field of the Western Land of Dharma Nature, revealing smiles of having been saved, which makes me feel very comforted in my heart. If it were not for Practitioner Su saving them, I truly would not know how to face the souls of these victims.

I have heard from the seniors of the Demon Realm who are also in the Western Land of Dharma Nature that the Holy Name 'Namo Amituofo' is very important. I believe the words of the seniors. So, I am now very earnestly chanting the Holy Name 'Namo Amituofo'.

Although I am not yet very clear about the efficacy of this Holy Name or why one must chant this Holy Name, I still honestly chant it one sentence after another, clearly and carefully. I believe that as long as I keep chanting, it will always be of some help to me.

In any case, I believe all the mysteries will be answered tomorrow. Because tomorrow, Practitioner Su will continue to give Dharma talks and save beings, giving sentient beings in the vastness of the Dharma Realm, the universe, various parts of the Milky Way, and even various parts of the Earth, the opportunity to receive the influence of the Buddha’s teachings.

I, the demon Guisen, am now truly full of admiration for Practitioner Su. After all, having seen the Chao Du performed by Practitioner Su during the Dharma assembly, I believe no demon crowd could help but prostrate themselves; after all, such skills are truly too powerful and too amazing. I am full of anticipation for the Dharma talk session by Practitioner Su tomorrow.

Now I have become accustomed to no longer having a body filled with black light; in its place is a pure and bright soul state. This is truly a very special experience. I never thought I could have such a transformation, but this is a good transformation, because I can clearly perceive from this heart of mine a stability and peace that I have never had before. I no longer worry about being found by the power of the laws of karma and cause and effect at every moment. Now I am slowly beginning to understand a fact that fills my heart with joy, and that is: 'I have truly been saved'!

I am grateful for the compassionate salvation of Amitabha Buddha and Practitioner Su, for saving this ancient soul who wandered in the Demon Realm for so long. Now I feel that I am becoming kinder and softer. I do not feel like a demon crowd at all now, and I really like this transformation.
