This is a record of an interview with Venerable Yongning, who now resides in the of Ultimate Bliss. This account explores the spiritual consequences of negative emotions and was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on November 2, 2022, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia.

Venerable Yongning speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Venerable Yongning. It is a profound honour to share these insights regarding the nature of the human heart and the unseen forces that influence our daily lives. In the world of humanity, it is a sad reality that most people carry far more negative emotions than positive ones. When a negative emotion arises within a person, it does not merely stay as a fleeting thought; it ripples through the entire space of one's cellular structure. You must understand that within these cellular spaces, there are countless sentient beings—spirits—who are often filled with deep-seated anger and hatred. These spirits are perfectly in sync with the negative emotions of the attached to the individual.

The Gateway of Negative Emotions

From the perspective of the spiritual realms and the work of , we can clearly see that all these spirits are suffering immensely. Therefore, when people habitually fall into negative emotional states, regardless of where they are or what they are doing, they are essentially opening a door. They rapidly attract sentient beings from the vast, infinite spaces who resonate with that specific frequency of negativity. These spirits then enter , leading to constant and persistent spiritual attachment. It is a cycle that feeds upon itself, leaving the individual increasingly vulnerable.

Among these destructive emotions, anger is perhaps the most frequent and dangerous. Humans are so easily triggered when things do not go according to their own desires. In today's society, this is seen everywhere—people are becoming angrier by the day, and they find it nearly impossible to extinguish the raging fire within their hearts. Beyond anger, states of depression, profound sadness, and deep-seated frustration are also common emotional states that plague humanity. These are not just psychological burdens; they are spiritual invitations.

The Vicious Cycle of Attachment

The moment these negative emotions manifest, it is as if every pore in the human body has been thrown wide open. The body begins to absorb a massive influx of corresponding spirits from the surrounding space. These beings flood into the body, occupying the internal space and further amplifying the original negative emotion. It is a terrifying feedback loop: the human feels negative, the spirits enter, and the spirits then influence the human to become even more negative. We often see individuals who, under the weight of such heavy spiritual attachment, find their already volatile tempers spiralling completely out of control.

Karmic Creditors and the Echoes of the Past

Furthermore, these negative emotions are directly in sync with the karmic creditors already residing within the body. When a person succumbs to negativity, these karmic creditors are awakened from their dormant states. They manifest alongside the emotion, often standing right there, pointing at the individual, filled with resentment. Why? Because in the past, they were harmed by the very same personality and temper that the individual is currently displaying. When the same emotion arises again, these karmic creditors feel justified in appearing before the person to demand their due. It is a painful reminder that our past actions and our current emotional habits are inextricably linked.

The Path to a Pure Mind

When you look at it this way, it becomes clear that the emergence of negative emotions is not just a personal mood swing; it is a direct hazard to the physical body. It places the body in a state of extreme peril. This is why Practitioner Su constantly teaches the masses that we must always watch our thoughts and think only of what is good. We must maintain right at all times. Only by doing so can the body remain free from the interference of these spirits, allowing one to keep the body, heart, and mind in a state of absolute purity.

Namo Amituofo."
