This is a record of an interview with Peng Mushan, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the cycle of rebirth to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on March 13, 2026.

Peng Mushan speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Peng Mushan. Since arriving in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I have not stopped chanting the holy Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo for even a single moment. I have come to realise that this sacred Buddha-name is the only true path to salvation for all beings. It is the light that guides us out of the darkness of samsara.

Because of this, from the moment I arrived in the , I began listening to Practitioner Su’s talks and engaged in diligent practice. Think back to my life before this—I was just like most people. I drifted through my days in a state of utter confusion and bewilderment, never knowing which way to turn. This was especially true in my final years. As the Buddha’s teachings explain, this was the weight of my . As I grew older, the number of coming to seek revenge grew, and my human body became heavy and burdened. That was the reality of my existence at the time; I was trapped by the very karma I had accumulated throughout your many lives.

A Witness to the Great Deliverance

Today, I, Peng Mushan, know that all of this is not easily attained. To encounter the Buddha is the most precious thing in existence. I am filled with gratitude for Namo Amituofo and for Practitioner Su. It is through your great that suffering spirits like us are given the chance to be guided to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. When I was in the Western Dharma-Nature Land, I heard Practitioner Su speaking about the active promotion of the 'Interviews with Historical Figures of China’s Five Thousand Years.' I witnessed so many Chinese spirits being saved and brought into the space of the Western Dharma-Nature Land. It was truly moving to behold.

Under the weight of long-forgotten history, so many suffering beings have finally been granted the opportunity for liberation. If the Buddha had not descended to this world, I must say, such a thing would never have happened! I never imagined that Practitioner Su, as a lay practitioner still in a human body, could cultivate to such a high level, capable of performing such magnificent deeds for thousands upon thousands of suffering spirits.

Escaping the Grey Space of Confusion

If my younger sister had not performed the Chao Du for me, I would still be trapped in that space. And what kind of space is that? It is a grey, dim, and desolate realm where one has no autonomy and remains in a state of constant, wandering confusion. While I was there, I could vaguely sense the environment I was familiar with during my life, and I could see the people I knew going about their business, but everything felt incredibly distant and strange. It was a feeling of profound alienation—a state that I believe no one would ever wish to experience.

However, there are many deceased spirits, not just myself, who remain trapped in such spaces. Perhaps it is because they have not truly let go of the past that they continue to live in a loop of their own memories. Ha! In truth, a human life lasts only a few decades; there is really nothing worth clinging to. This is something I only truly realised after arriving in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Here, we can all see our past lives and previous experiences clearly, as if looking into a mirror. Because we can see through the nature of all these things, we no longer feel the need to struggle or hold onto the past. Once I saw the truth of it all, I was finally able to let go.

The Clarity of Eternal Life

Now, in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I am living a life of absolute ease and . Being with the Buddha, chanting 'Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo' with a single-minded focus, my heart is at peace. It is incredibly calm, and there are no afflictions to trouble me anymore.

In closing, I carry a heart full of gratitude. I am grateful for the compassion of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I am grateful for everything.

Namo Amituofo."
