This is a record of an interview with Venerable Chang Gao, who reflects on the spiritual challenges faced by Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on December 16, 2022.

Venerable Chang Gao speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Venerable Chang Gao. Practitioner Su stands as the embodiment of Righteous Power, acting on behalf of the Buddha to save the world. It is precisely because of this profound mission that he faces constant interference from various demon forces. These beings are always looking for ways to obstruct Practitioner Su, desperately trying to prevent him from saving sentient beings.

The Constant Battle of Righteous Power

I have seen it clearly with my own eyes: every single day, demon crowds come to interfere with Practitioner Su. This is because Practitioner Su plays an incredibly vital role within the universe. Through his countless manifestations, he is able to perform throughout the universe and the Milky Way, helping a vast number of spirits to leave suffering behind and gain happiness. To the Demon Realm, this is something they find absolutely unacceptable. Consequently, they view Practitioner Su as their greatest enemy, frequently arriving in massive numbers to disrupt his work.

Why the Demon Realm Fears Practitioner Su

Practitioner Su’s physical form is protected by the Dragon and Heaven Protectors and enveloped in a Vajra shield. While it is extremely difficult for these demon crowds to actually enter his body, they are constantly searching for ways to infiltrate. They especially focus on interfering within the space surrounding him, which is enough to cause Practitioner Su to feel their presence. Sometimes, when he encounters particularly malicious or powerful Demon Kings, Practitioner Su’s physical body still experiences significant pain and discomfort.

The Physical Toll of

Practitioner Su’s compassion is such that he is willing to bear the suffering of sentient beings on their behalf. To him, these demon crowds are simply beings who have not yet been taught the Dharma—they are ignorant, which is why they have committed such grave sins. He holds a deep vow to deliver them. Even when he is enduring physical pain, he is merely waiting for the right opportunity to save them.

A Growing Army of Redeemed Beings

At this very moment, there is a vast assembly of Bodhisattvas from across the universe and the Milky Way, along with new Buddha-disciples, who are following Practitioner Su to perform Chao Du. Their numbers are continuing to grow steadily. These beings are all former demon crowds that have been subdued by the power of Practitioner Su’s vow. Many of them were prominent and complex Demon Kings in their own right. To date, the number of these beings has reached an incalculable level. It is a truly massive formation that follows Practitioner Su in his work every single day.

The Vitality of a Vow

In my heart, I hold the utmost respect for Practitioner Su. He is nearly eighty years old, yet he remains full of vitality. The source of this vitality is nothing other than his heart for all beings—he cannot bear to see them suffer, and he wishes only for all beings to leave suffering behind and gain happiness. This heart is truly one of great compassion, and it is something worthy of our deepest respect and emulation.

Namo Amituofo."
