Interview with Dr. Helmut Sohmen (Former Chairman of BW Group)
Recorded and transcribed by ’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
On the twenty-seventh of April, 2025, during the noon offering, Namo Amituofo provided the following teachings regarding the nature of existence across the vast expanse of the Realm.
Across different realms, dimensions, and spans of time, the lives of beings are vastly different. These diverse environments are not merely locations; they are the manifestations that shape the very nature of the beings who inhabit them. Consider the worldly realm of Earth, the beings of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, the inhabitants of the Western Land of Dharma Nature, and the demon crowds—each exists in a world fundamentally distinct from the others.
The Earth is a physical realm, a dense environment where the six realms of existence converge. Within this space, both human beings and spirit realm beings live out their lives, each confined to their own specific dimensions and experiencing the consequences of their unique karmic paths. Their lives are dictated by the limitations of their physical and spiritual surroundings.
In contrast, the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and the Western Land of Dharma Nature are spiritual realms. These are not worlds built of physical matter, but are composed entirely of the true self. Within these sacred lands, beings of high spiritual attainment reside, and even within these realms, there are different spaces where beings lead lives of varying degrees of purity and wisdom.
The world of demon crowds is also a spiritual realm, yet it is one of darkness and confusion. These beings permeate the Earth, the Dharma Realm, the universe, the Milky Way, and even the realms beyond the heavens. They manifest wherever there is demon nature. Conversely, those who have reached possess the Buddha-heart, the Buddha-vow, and the Buddha-actions, which allow them to transcend these lower vibrations.
Every space in the universe is created by the mind. The life one leads is either a manifestation of one's accumulated or a reflection of one's true self. For the beings within the various spaces of the Earth, the state of their heart determines their destination:
The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is the direct manifestation of the true self of Namo Amituofo. While the lives of the beings there mirror the qualities of Namo Amituofo, there are still distinctions in their experiences, categorised into the four lands, three grades, and nine levels, all of which arise from the varying depths of the beings' own hearts.
The Western Land of Dharma Nature is a sanctuary established through the vow of Practitioner Su to save beings, supported by the infinite power of Namo Amituofo. Beings who enter this land come from all directions, seeking a way out of their suffering. Once they arrive, they are bathed in the Buddha’s light, which provides the following opportunities for transformation:
If a being can truly make a sincere vow, the lotus of their heart will bloom, the bonds of their past will be dissolved, and they will be granted entry into the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is the ultimate destination for all who seek to leave suffering behind and find true, eternal happiness.
