The Weight of Countless Lifetimes
Throughout your many lives, you have endured countless births and countless deaths. For your body, mind, and spirit, this cycle of birth and death is an experience of profound suffering. Yet, beings in all realms, including the human world, often find themselves powerless to resist the momentum of their own . You are often left to drift, allowing the arising and ceasing of Causal Conditions to pull you deeper into the cycle of reincarnation. While this may seem like a helpless and sorrowful reality, you are fortunate to have found a clear path. You can begin to transform your life by working on your heart, allowing you to leave suffering behind and find true happiness.
The Records Within the
Every experience you have had throughout your accumulated lifetimes, and every detail of your existence in the various realms of reincarnation, is meticulously recorded in your Alaya . This storehouse consciousness acts as a repository for all your past actions. Consequently, when these past imprints are stirred, they trigger the manifestation of your karma, which then acts as a significant obstacle to your spiritual practice. To progress on the path, you must strive to keep your heart settled and unmoving. By maintaining this stillness, you avoid triggering the negative karma you have accumulated over accumulated lifetimes.
The Roots of Our Entanglement
In the past, you have created far too many negative causes. You have been deeply entangled in the and the , and you have not lacked a single one of them:
- The Five Poisons: Greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt.
- The Five Desires: Wealth, sex, fame, food, and sleep.
How can you avoid triggering these past imprints? The only way is to put in the work within your own heart. Delusion, discrimination, and attachment have always been the primary reasons why beings trapped by karma cannot realise one's true nature and attain Buddhahood. Stopping these three tendencies is absolutely the wisest course of action. However, because these habits have become deeply ingrained in your personality, they have become a part of who you are. This very personality is what keeps you trapped within the cycle of reincarnation.
The Path to Liberation
Therefore, true practice consists of the following:
- Stopping and severing all delusion, discrimination, and attachment.
- Stopping and severing the Five Poisons of greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt.
- Stopping and severing the Five Desires of wealth, sex, fame, food, and sleep.
practice relies on the power of Namo Amituofo. Through the combination of your own vow and the supportive power of the Buddha, you can prevent your negative karma from manifesting and transform it so that you no longer suffer. By choosing to chant one Buddha's name to the end, you will achieve success in your practice. This is the fundamental method to end the cycle of birth and death, allowing you to realise one's true nature and attain Buddhahood, and enter the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo.
