The Sixth Letter of Venerable Fuhui

Venerable Fuhui speaks:
"To 'see through' and 'let go' is not an easy task, yet it is an essential, non-negotiable lesson on our path of practice."
The Sixth Letter: A Message from Venerable Fuhui
"Layer upon layer, the chambers of the heart are locked tight. Without this, one cannot practise with a cool, free, and easy mind. This is the state of so many people in the world. Yet, when one truly learns to 'see through' and 'let go,' the entire landscape changes. When there is and no-mind, one acts naturally, and a completely different realm unfolds before you.
Today, I wish to share my thoughts on the practice of 'seeing through' and 'letting go.' This concept can be vast or minute, but from the perspective of my own practice, I faced my first major test in the form of family attachments. At that time, I came to understand my innate mission: I had to dedicate myself to the noble cause of saving beings. My child had not been born long, yet with my husband's consent, I resolutely chose to leave my family behind. To say I did not struggle would be a lie. However, I had to constantly remind myself that there was only one way forward—there was no turning back. In this life, aside from saving beings, I had no intention of looking back at the red dust of the samsaric world.
The First Trial: Renouncing the World
In the beginning, there were nights when I would turn my back to my master, wiping away the two lines of tears that streamed down my cheeks. I missed my home, my husband, and my child, terrified that my master would see me and worry on my behalf. Becoming a monastic was my own choice, so I hardened my heart. I followed my master, intensifying my efforts, understanding that elevating my own capabilities was the only ultimate path. I filled every moment of my time with practice, leaving no gaps for idle thoughts to creep in. I simply did what needed to be done.
I accumulated over a decade of energy. During this period, with the support of some lay practitioners, I finally rented a piece of land in Tongluo, Miaoli, and built a simple corrugated iron structure. That became my formal base, where I began to receive beings and join the ranks of those working to save the world. The journey was one of constant vigilance. Although life was frugal and arduous—practising the discipline of eating only one meal a day—we always maintained the simplicity and pure Goodness of the Daxingshan Temple. We had no magnificent halls, yet we had an endless stream of visitors. I say 'visitors' because not everyone who came to see us was a student of Buddhism, nor did they all understand what true practice meant.
The Final Lesson: Letting Go of the Physical Body
When I left my physical body, my time in that vessel had come to an end. My resolute decision to let go of the physical form, which led to my ascension to the heavenly realms, was something even I had not anticipated. Fortunately, in this life, I was able to encounter Practitioner Su, who guided me to rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. To see through the Universal Principles and to be able to let go of the things one cares about most—this is a lesson one must learn throughout an entire lifetime.
Even now, having reached the Western Pure Land, I do not dare to take this lesson lightly. I fear that if a single stray thought arises, it might disturb the clear, still pool of my mind, and my progress in practice could suffer a great setback. To 'see through' and 'let go' is not an easy task, yet it is an essential, non-negotiable lesson on our path of practice, regardless of whether you are still wandering in the red dust of the world or have already reached the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
I, Fuhui, wish to encourage everyone to work together, to strive to let go, and to attain pure, great liberation."
