Venerable Chang Gao is a monastic practitioner residing at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. During a session of Spiritual Deliverance conducted by Practitioner Su, Venerable Chang Gao witnessed the liberation of countless moth spirits who had been trapped in the cycle of rebirth for millennia due to their intense emotional attachments. This interview was recorded by Chief Writer Shi Fajing on May 10, 2023.

Venerable Chang Gao speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Every spirit saved by Practitioner Su develops the heart to help other sentient beings. With just one six-character name—Namo Amituofo—one can save all beings and help them leave suffering behind.

Today, under the deliverance of Practitioner Su's , countless moths were saved from their realm. Every single moth possesses a spirit. One moth, one spirit; they were all rescued by the Body of Practitioner Su, who helped them escape the confines of their space.

An Ocean of Lost Souls

Practitioner Su's Dharma Body delivers the world, and today, the protagonists appearing before me were moths. The number of these moths was so vast that it is impossible to calculate. Looking out, I saw nothing but moths—large ones, small ones, moths of every imaginable colour, filling the horizon without end. Under today's Causal Conditions, they all emerged to seek Spiritual Deliverance. Each moth had existed in that space for a different duration; some for a long time, others for a short while. Many had already cycled through several lifetimes, yet they remained trapped as moths, never having the opportunity to leave that space.

A Love Transcending Two Millennia

I noticed a pair of moths that were inseparable. Even under the illumination of the Buddha-light, they remained close to one another. Looking into the souls within these moth bodies, I realised they were a pair of deeply devoted lovers. I asked the male moth, 'From which era do you originate?' He replied, 'We were born during the Warring States period.' That era was over two thousand years ago. This meant that this pair had been together for more than two millennia, yet they remained moths to this day.

I asked the male moth in astonishment, 'You have been reincarnated as different moths life after life; how have you managed to stay together every time?' He answered, 'We are also amazed by this. It must be because our thought power for one another is incredibly strong. No matter where the other went, we were determined to be together, never to be separated. Perhaps it is this intense mental note that created a powerful magnetic force between us, allowing us to remain together for so long. Over two thousand years, we have never once been apart.' I observed that while their forms changed with each reincarnation as moths, they were truly always together, never separated for a single moment.

The of the Heart

I sighed and shook my head as I looked at them. I asked, 'How much longer do you intend to stay together? Do you wish to continue being moths?' Neither the male nor the female moth spoke. As the Buddha-light shone upon them, they both looked up toward the light. I saw them shedding tears. I asked again, 'How do you feel now?' The male moth replied, 'No matter how deep the love, it is ultimately like this. We have truly suffered enough in the cycle of rebirth. Because of our attachment to love, we destroyed our chance for liberation and have been moths for over two thousand years. Now, we have finally been awakened by the Buddha-light.' The female moth added, 'If I had known we would end up as moths, I would have preferred to let him go back then. I would have chosen to let go of this emotion rather than let us both suffer for so long.'

This pair of moths became completely clear-minded. Under the illumination of the Buddha-light, they departed from the moth realm, regained their original forms, and after offering respectful prostrations to one another, they followed the Buddha-light into the radiance.

Gratitude for Deliverance

I looked at the other moths; each one had their own story. But regardless of their past, they have all been saved now. They no longer need to continue as moths. They are all deeply grateful to Practitioner Su, for without her, there would have been no opportunity for liberation.

Namo Amituofo."
