The Gentle Cleansing of the Stream
A trickling stream is a gentle flow of water. Although the flow of this gentle stream may appear slow, it is a source of living water that never ceases. When you chant the Buddha-name with a sincere and earnest heart, this stream begins to flow within you. It quietly washes away the dust of worldly attachments from the heart, dissolves the resentment within , and clears the blockages that have long obscured the spirit. This allows the heart to become pure, the body to be cleansed of resentment, and the spirit to become clear and bright. This is the water of the Dharma, the water of the Buddha, and the water of . It flows forth from every single recitation of the Buddha-name, provided that your heart is truly sincere.
Adapting to the Needs of Your Body-Mind-Spirit
This stream is not static; it is a living force that adjusts itself at any time according to the situations of beings. It is the perfect medicine for your Body-Mind-Spirit, providing exactly what you need at any given moment:
- When you are agitated:
- The stream transforms into a cooling current, extinguishing the fires of your inner turmoil and bringing peace to your heart. When you feel cold and low:
- The stream transforms into a warm current, driving away the chill of loneliness and filling you with the warmth of the Buddha's presence. When you are filled with arrogance:
- The stream transforms into a humble current, washing away your pride and helping you to become humble and modest. When you are plagued by doubt:
- The stream transforms into a current of clarity, helping you to cast aside your hesitation so that you may accept the Truth immediately. When you are trapped in ignorance: The stream transforms into a current of Wisdom (Prajna), removing your confusion and allowing true insight to manifest.
The Union of Two Powers
This stream flows naturally within the heart of every person. By allowing it to flow without obstruction, your heart becomes pure, your meditative concentration deepens, and your innate Wisdom (Prajna) begins to manifest. When you combine your own sincere efforts with the Buddha's , you are supported by these two powerful forces. Through this union, you will eventually be able to enter the ranks of the awakened beings. Namo Amituofo.
