The Essence of True Rejoicing
Rejoicing in merit is the fifth of the Ten Great Vows of Samantabhadra. It is a profound practice that transforms the heart. What does it truly mean to rejoice in the merit of others? It means that when you observe a virtuous act, your heart resonates with it. You do not feel envy or competition. Instead, you offer your sincere praise. When you participate in these acts with a spirit of rejoicing, you help others find relief from their burdens. By engaging in the collective actions of the Buddha's path, you learn through the very process of movement and service.
The Freedom of an Awakened Mind
As you continue to practise, you will find that your mind becomes a place of infinite coolness and peace. You will no longer be attached to the results of your actions. You will not be hindered by the or the . When you reach this state, you become an awakened being. Your true nature will naturally manifest in every situation, free from the obstacles that once clouded your vision.
Walking the Path to Buddhahood
This is the ultimate goal of our practice. When your skills in concentration and wisdom are fully developed, you will find that you can rejoice in every moment and in every action. You will be walking the Buddha's path with every step you take. This is how we leave suffering behind and find true happiness, ultimately attaining Buddhahood.
