The Firefighter's Final Rescue
An Interview with the Spirit of He Weihao
Recorded on November 29, 2025
This is a record of an interview with He Weihao, a firefighter who perished in the line of duty during the tragic fire at Wang Fat Court in Hong Kong. He sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the . This account was recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe, on November 29, 2025.
Practitioner Su speaks:
"He Weihao, have you managed to settle your mind? Is your heart feeling more at peace now? There are one hundred and twenty-eight souls who perished in that tragedy, and I have invited all of them to the Western -Nature Land. Remember, the spirit never dies. You have accumulated immense , for it is Namo Amituofo who has reached out to save you all. He Weihao, you must steady your heart now. Find stillness in this place. You have not truly died; it is Namo Amituofo who has rescued your spirits. Your blessings are profound to have been saved by the Buddha himself!"
The Reality of the Sacrifice
He Weihao speaks:
"I feel so much better now! I am finally calm, which has allowed me to look around and understand where I am. I can hear the beautiful, resonant sound of the Buddha-name chanting filling the air. Even though the terrifying images of the fire keep surfacing in my mind, the overwhelming sorrow is fading. Being a firefighter, one must be prepared to face the fire without fear. That is the only way to save countless suffering beings. I learned this yesterday afternoon while listening to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks—I now know that this is truly the Buddha-land!
I, He Weihao, have died! I truly died! That fire claimed so many lives, and I was one of them. Yet, there is meaning in this death. To sacrifice one's life to save others is the duty every firefighter prepares for, though one never expects it to actually happen. It is a heavy burden, but it is our calling. Please, I beg my family not to grieve for me. My physical body has been cremated, but my spirit lives on. I am currently at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. It was the light of Namo Amituofo that guided us here!"
A Message to the Living
"My spirit has been saved. And it is not just me—the one hundred and twenty-eight victims whose deaths were reported in the fire have also been rescued. The Buddha shone His light upon us and brought us all here. I want to repeat this clearly: we are at the Western Dharma-Nature Land of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. After I regained my clarity, I looked around and confirmed that this place is real and that we are safe.
To my brothers on the force, please do not worry. I am safe, and my spirit has not perished. All one hundred and twenty-eight of us have been settled here by Namo Amituofo, safe and sound. This message comes directly from me, He Weihao. Namo Amituofo."
