Wu Hanren speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Wu Hanren. On a night filled with ice, snow, and frost, I walked toward the mountain peak. It was said that if a person with a kind heart made a request to the mountain range during an eclipse, they would be blessed and protected.

A Life Dedicated to Healing

I was a gatherer of medicinal herbs near the Changbai Mountain range in China. I made my living by collecting ginseng. I held a deep belief in the existence of divine beings. Once, I desperately needed ginseng from the Changbai Mountains to serve as a medicinal ingredient for a patient. Despite the freezing, treacherous weather, I ventured up the mountain. Legend had it that if one’s heart was pure and kind, the mountain would grant one's request. At that time, my only intention was to find ginseng to help someone recover from illness. With that simple, sincere thought, I miraculously found high-quality ginseng very quickly. From that moment on, I held even greater reverence and respect for this land. I became convinced that there are existences in this world that remain hidden from human sight and knowledge.

I spent my entire life gathering herbs. Because this profession was inherently dangerous, I never married, yet I felt incredibly content with my life. Often, my expeditions were far more successful than those of other gatherers. I did not gather herbs for the sake of wealth; I truly hoped to help those in need. I only took what was necessary for my living expenses. I would never intentionally deplete the resources of the Changbai Mountains just to accumulate riches. I felt as though this mountain range was my family. We respected, honoured, and supported one another. Although I did not know the source of the help I received from the mountain, I remained eternally grateful.

From Mortal to Mountain Guardian

I lived a long life, reaching the age of ninety-three without ever falling ill. Finally, I passed away peacefully in my home. After my death, I became a mountain god of the Changbai range. For approximately nine hundred and eighty years, I have been guarding the creatures of these mountains and providing assistance to those who entered, especially those with pure and kind intentions. I would help them to the best of my ability.

Recently, I witnessed golden light filling the sky, descending from above. It was the immeasurable and boundless golden manifestation of Practitioner Su, carrying the full radiance of Buddha-light to save sentient beings. I felt immense from the sensation of that golden light, and I entered it, arriving at the Western -Nature Land of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

A Legacy of Kindness

While in the Dharma-Nature Land, I clearly saw that when I was a human, it was the previous mountain god who had helped and guided me because he saw that I had a kind heart, cared for others, and protected the environment of the Changbai Mountains. I could not help but smile when I saw this, as I had done the exact same thing after I became a mountain god. It was a beautiful form of inheritance.

I saw that in China, many deep mountains have mountain gods, and there are countless ghosts, spirits, and even demon crowds undergoing retribution within them. Under the deliverance of Practitioner Su’s countless manifestations, all these sentient beings were sent into the Western Dharma-Nature Land within the golden light. Seeing this, I felt profound joy and was deeply moved. If not for the salvation of Practitioner Su, I do not know how much longer we would have had to wait for a chance to escape the cycle of rebirth.

A Vow to Save Others

Now, we can say that we are all in the Western Dharma-Nature Land of the temple, having truly received a chance for rebirth. Practitioner Su teaches us that as long as we chant 'Namo Amituofo,' we have the opportunity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is truly compassionate. Wu Hanren and the many beings in the Dharma-Nature Land could not help but kneel and kowtow in gratitude to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su for their great and immense kindness.

After listening to the Dharma, I feel that this world is not a place to return to, unless one comes like Practitioner Su to save the world. I am deeply grateful to Namo Amituofo for creating the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, providing a peaceful destination for us suffering souls who have been trapped in samsara. I hope that one day, I will be able to return to the Saha world to save sentient beings just as Practitioner Su does.

Gratitude to Namo Amituofo. Gratitude to Practitioner Su.

Namo Amituofo.

Wu Hanren"
