Words of Namo Amituofo, recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on July 8, 2022.

When you chant the name of Namo Amituofo, you must ensure your heart is fully present. How many practitioners chant with their mouths while their hearts wander elsewhere? If your heart is not with the Buddha, your chanting is empty. However, when your heart is truly with the Buddha, you are in harmony with Him. In every moment, the Buddha is by your side. No matter how you chant, Namo Amituofo hears you and protects your growth. This is the greatest blessing for any practitioner.

The Alchemy of the Heart

When you chant with an empty heart, you create the perfect space for Namo Amituofo to enter. If you let go of your conceptual thoughts and chant, you will find that as you think of the Buddha, the Buddha thinks of His child. This is a profound connection. When greed arises, chanting transforms it into gratitude. When anger flares, the Buddha’s presence calms your heart. When ignorance clouds your mind, chanting clears the fog and allows Wisdom (Prajna) to emerge. When arrogance takes hold, chanting dissolves it into humility. When doubt lingers, chanting scatters the clouds and reveals your faith.

The Path of No-Seeking

In your practice, you may begin with many requests and desires. You chant with a goal in mind. However, you must eventually move beyond this. Enter the state of no-seeking and no-thought. Simply chant, and let the practice flow naturally. When you chant with a pure heart, you are not burdened by expectations. You are simply present. By letting go of your conceptual thoughts, you allow the Buddha's blessing to transform you in ways you cannot yet imagine.

The Manifestation of the True Self

By chanting in this way, you will achieve the purification of . Your Body-Mind-Spirit will become one. In this state of unity, your true self—the within—will manifest. This is the ultimate goal of your practice. Continue to chant Namo Amituofo all the way, and you will surely find your way home to the of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo.
