The Radiant Light of Dawn and Dusk

Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju shares his observations of the celestial phenomena at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, where the light of the heavens changes in a myriad of ways. In the early morning, just before the sun begins to rise in the east, one can witness the appearance of a brilliant golden light. Within this radiance, a tapestry of purple, orange, yellow, and white hues emerges, set against the vast backdrop of the blue sky. This golden light radiates outward, illuminating the earth with a profound and sacred brilliance. Similarly, as the sun sets in the west, the same golden light spills across the horizon. One can see the sky painted in layers of purple, orange, yellow, and white, blending seamlessly with the golden glow. This inconceivable heavenly light manifests constantly at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, serving as a testament to the presence of the Buddha.

The Arrival of the Demon Crowds

However, the sky also reflects the presence of those who are suffering. When the demon crowds approach, the sky transforms. Grey and black clouds gather, layer upon layer, thick and heavy, obscuring the blue sky. Within these dark clouds, one can see countless demons, kneeling in the midst of the gloom, seeking to surrender and find a way out of their suffering. They are drawn to this sacred place, hoping for the compassion of the Buddha to reach them in their time of need.

The Compassionate Deliverance

When Namo Amituofo and the Dharma Body of Practitioner Su perform the act of Chao Du, a miraculous change occurs. Within the grey and black clouds, a brilliant golden light suddenly manifests. This is the light of Namo Amituofo, descending to lead the demons from the clouds. Countless beings are then guided into the Western Land of Dharma Nature. As they are liberated, the dark clouds disperse, and the blue sky and white clouds reappear, signifying the restoration of purity and peace. This process of deliverance is a profound demonstration of the Buddha's boundless compassion.

The Gathering of Beings

The changing conditions of the sky are a reflection of the events occurring at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. On the days of the Thrice Yearning Ceremony, beings from the Ten Directions of the Dharma Realm gather here. They come with a singular purpose: to seek the help of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, hoping to be saved, to leave suffering behind, and to attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land. In the early morning, white mist often surrounds the temple, representing the suffering beings who have come to seek deliverance. The sky is ever-changing; at times, black clouds fill the heavens, signalling the arrival of the demon crowds, while at other times, thin, auspicious clouds appear, indicating the arrival of celestial beings.

The Illumination of the Western Land

Namo Amituofo, in His infinite compassion, fulfils the wishes of all beings. Through the ceremony, these beings are saved, and their hearts are filled with joy. After the deliverance is complete, the golden light shines forth once more, representing the Buddha-light that illuminates the infinite reaches of the Dharma Realm. The Western Land of Dharma Nature at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is also bathed in this sacred Buddha-light, ensuring that all who are guided here find the peace and liberation they seek.
