Namo Amituofo teaches us that there are countless beings, filling every corner and every dimension within the vastness of the Realm. Within this infinite expanse, there are spaces within spaces, layers upon layers of existence that remain hidden from our limited perception.
The Unseen Multitude
When you look out into what your physical eyes perceive as empty space, you must understand that it is not truly empty. It is teeming with countless beings and myriad dimensions. Just because your physical eyes cannot see them does not mean they do not exist. If one were to have their eyes opened—if one were to attain a higher level of spiritual clarity—they would be able to perceive these hidden spaces and the beings that inhabit them. The depth, breadth, and clarity of what one sees depend entirely upon the degree to which their inner vision has been opened.
These beings are infinite in number. The beings of the six paths, including those in the spiritual realms and all of humanity, are but a fraction of this vast multitude. Every one of these beings possesses the eight consciousnesses and the fifty-one mental factors, which govern their interaction with the world.
The Composition of Our Suffering
All beings are formed through the combination of the Five Aggregates: form, feeling, perception, impulse, and . Because we are composed of these five elements, we are subject to their influence. Within the myriad illusions of this world, we develop deep-seated discriminations and attachments. It is precisely because of these illusions that we endure such profound suffering.
As we are reincarnated through the six paths, we are saturated with suffering. This is because we have not yet learned to let go of appearances. If you can learn to detach from these appearances and release these illusions, you will naturally leave suffering behind. You will no longer be bound by the chains of discrimination and attachment. If you can transcend the Five Aggregates and succeed in transforming consciousness into wisdom, you will truly transcend the state of being a confused, ordinary being.
The Wisdom of the Awakened
While it is important to understand these truths on an intellectual level, it is not enough. You must be able to verify them through your own practice; only then is your understanding complete. Countless beings are currently lost in confusion, giving rise to a myriad of illusions. It is precisely because they are lost within these illusions that they experience such intense suffering.
In contrast, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and those who have realised their true nature do not get lost within these myriad appearances. They have the ability to detach from them, and thus, they do not suffer. Yet, out of infinite , they respond to the hearts of beings and manifest in various forms to save them. They do not get lost in the illusions or the appearances of this world; they remain clear and enlightened at all times.
A Call to Compassionate Action
They use these very illusions and appearances as tools to help beings recognise the true reality of existence. By doing so, they guide us to leave behind our confusion and our attachment to appearances. When you finally see the truth, you will see your true self. There are countless beings waiting to be saved, waiting to leave suffering behind.
Therefore, you must strive to succeed in your practice as early as possible. Realise your true self, save beings, help them leave suffering behind, and guide them toward rebirth in the .
