Teachings from Namo Amituofo:
Where do spirits reside? In truth, spirits are omnipresent. They exist throughout the vastness of the Realm, within the galaxies of the universe, and across all dimensions of existence. Whether one looks to the Four Sacred Realms or the six realms of existence, one will find that these are all places where spirits dwell.
The Pervasive Presence of Spirits
Spirits are present in every corner of our Earth. They reside in the furthest reaches of the horizon, within the depths of the oceans, deep inside the mountains, and even within the very soil of the land. Furthermore, they exist within the countless cells of our own bodies. We are constantly surrounded by sentient beings with karmic affinity, including , attached spirits, and demon crowds, all of whom are spirits.
Because spirits are everywhere, there is not a single place in the universe that is devoid of them. While the number of human beings can be counted, the number of spirits is truly infinite and beyond calculation. Therefore, the population of the spiritual realm far exceeds that of the human world, and their influence upon our lives is a power that one must never underestimate.
Harmonising with the Spiritual Realm
If you wish to follow the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, you must first develop a clear understanding of the nature of spirits. When a practitioner undergoes deep purification, they can open the dimensions of space. This allows for genuine communication with spirits, enabling one to hear their inner voices, understand their difficult situations, and treat them with mutual respect.
By resolving the karmic obstacles and grievances between the human world and the spiritual realm, one can effectively help people improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This process is essential for addressing situations such as premature ageing, chronic illness, and various psychological disturbances.
The Architecture of the Soul
The true self is composed of the , which contains the eight consciousnesses and fifty-one mental factors. It carries the memories of the past and the present, recording every detail of our existence. Because of this, the laws of and cause and effect are perfectly clear and accurate; they are stored within the eight consciousnesses, and no one can substitute for another in bearing these results.
There are no two spirits that are exactly the same. Each is a unique individual, existing in various forms across different corners, locations, and spaces of the universe, all according to their specific and the causes and effects they have cultivated. Depending on the degree of a spirit's purification, they possess different abilities and exist in different realms, such as the three good realms or the three evil realms. Even the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and the demon crowds live vastly different spiritual lives based on their level of .
The Path to Liberation through Chanting
If you can maintain the Buddha-name in your heart 24/7, without interruption, the power of this Buddha-name can break through the barriers of space. It helps the beings within those spaces to leave their current state and find liberation. When these beings are illuminated by the Buddha’s light and accept the process of , their spiritual quality is elevated, allowing them to exist in higher levels of the spiritual realm. For those who are suffering, this provides a vital opportunity to leave suffering behind and gain happiness.
Returning to the
Our ancestors in China held a deep respect for the spiritual realm. Because of this, their spiritual nature was often more purified than that of many beings in this current age of the Dharma’s decline. Consequently, they possessed a profound understanding of spirits, which allowed them to be cautious in their speech and actions. By doing so, they avoided creating the negative causes of the three karmic actions of Body, Speech, and Mind, thereby sparing themselves from the bitter consequences of evil fruit.

Namo Amituofo’s Forty-eight Great Vows are all dedicated to saving all beings, bringing them to be reborn in His land, and helping them attain Buddhahood. From there, they may return to create more Pure Lands, saving all beings with karmic affinity until all have attained Buddhahood together.
