The Truth Behind Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre: A Researcher's Journey
The First Part of the Investigation Trilogy by Practitioner Fa Ru
A Personal Quest for Truth
Greetings to you all. Today, I, Fa Ru, wish to share a very practical and essential question with those who are just beginning to learn about the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. The question is simple yet profound: Is what the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre teaches truly real, or is it merely a fabrication?
A Skeptical Mind Meets the Infinite
At the time I first encountered the website of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I was pursuing my doctoral studies in Taiwan. As someone trained in the rigorous discipline of engineering, I had spent my entire academic life immersed in the sciences. When I first read the content on the Centre's website, I was filled with deep doubt.
The Centre published numerous transcripts of interviews that were truly eye-opening. They claimed to have communicated with a vast array of beings and entities, including:
- Beings from the Heavens, the human realm, and the Asura realm.
- Spirits from the hells, the hungry ghost realm, and the animal realm.
- Beings from the Four Sacred Realms.
- The physical world itself, including mountains, rivers, and the earth.
- Extraterrestrial beings, as well as entities from our solar system, the Milky Way, and the wider universe.
- Beings from the Demon Realm.
Furthermore, the Centre asserted that Namo Amituofo himself abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre as the Abbot, with Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva serving as the administrators. They also claimed that Great Master Xuanzang teaches at the Centre, and that the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been serving as a protector since his passing. At the time, I could only conclude that this was some form of marketing gimmick. It seemed far too exaggerated to be believable.
The Rigour of Scientific Inquiry
What I found most "exaggerated" was not merely the claim of communicating with spirits or the gathering of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in one place. It was the sheer depth of the content within the interview transcripts. They covered an exhaustive range of topics, including:
- The state of spirits residing within the bodies of current world leaders.
- The life stories of deceased celebrities.
- Historical accounts from ancient China, Japan, and Taiwan.
- Stories of prehistoric cultures and the era of the dinosaurs.
- Accounts of previous human civilisations and different planetary systems.
- Descriptions of natural phenomena in the universe and the formation of black holes.
- The teachings of Lokesvararaja Buddha and Medicine Buddha.
- Stories of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, the Jade Emperor, the Ten Kings of Hell, and the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas.
- The origins of various "demons" related to pandemics, the earth, the universe, and ancient times.
The most striking aspect was that every single story was written with meticulous detail. These details encompassed both external appearances and internal psychological states, touching upon subjects that modern science, medicine, and historical records have never even begun to explore.
The Unfailing Logic of Truth
I could not help but feel that this Buddhist Centre was being incredibly bold. These transcripts were more detailed than many science fiction or fantasy channels on YouTube. From a researcher's perspective, if one were to fabricate a story, would it not be better to keep it brief and vague to avoid inconsistencies? This reverse approach required immense courage.
However, I realised that the more detail provided, the easier it would be for me to verify and cross-reference the information, particularly regarding science and history. As a professional researcher accustomed to writing theses, conducting studies, and performing comparative analyses, I have a sharp memory for what I read. I believed it would not be difficult to uncover logical flaws.
Yet, I failed. Across nearly ten thousand transcripts spanning time and space, with immeasurable and boundless details, I could not find a single flaw. There were absolutely no contradictions. Each transcript was nearly five thousand words long, and among thousands of such entries, there was not a single logical inconsistency. This was truly difficult to believe. I invite those reading this to test my research capabilities for yourselves; all the transcripts are public, and you are welcome to challenge them.
A Journey Toward
Still, I was not convinced. I began listening to the Dharma talks from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, one after another. Whenever I had a break from my research or during meals, I would listen. I wanted to understand how the Centre conducted these interviews—did they use some strange, unorthodox methods? On the other hand, I had not yet given up hope of finding a flaw.
Again, I failed. The interviews conducted by the Centre were no different from ordinary conversations. The only difference was that after the human body undergoes purification, one can naturally regain the innate ability to communicate with spirits and all things. The Centre simply records the results of these communications. They do not boast about their abilities; instead, they announce on their website and in their Dharma talks that anyone who wishes to learn is welcome to come to the Centre, where they can help everyone regain this innate ability.
I investigated the practitioners responsible for these interviews and found that their backgrounds and education were no different from ordinary people. How could these ordinary individuals have the capacity to fabricate such vast and complex stories? Furthermore, the volume of text produced in such a short time was astonishing. If this were truly a fabrication, they would be the greatest writers in human history. The evidence pointed to one undeniable fact: those articles were truly the result of genuine "interviews."
My personality is strong-willed, and as an intellectual, I am not one to admit defeat easily. I continued to listen to the Dharma talks, hoping to find fault. Instead, my own faults were uncovered. As I listened to Practitioner Su explain the Dharma, she pointed out my problems one by one and explained how to resolve them. Her insights were so subtle and precise that I was left with no room to argue.
After two years of listening, I still had not fully conceded. Therefore, one year ago, I decided to travel to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia to investigate for myself. As a researcher, I knew I had to conduct a personal experiment to reach a conclusion. Does Namo Amituofo truly abide at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre? Are the interviews real? Do sentient beings and truly exist? I had to verify this for myself.
And so, I became a monk. Within just three months of arriving at the Centre, I made the decision to ordain. How did I, in my stubbornness, move from disbelief to acceptance, and finally to the willingness to let go of my former life and fully commit to the salvation team? Please read on.

Part Three (Conclusion):The Inconceivable Sights Fa Ru Witnessed at the Buddha-land—Namo Amituofo Abiding in the World, Great Master Xuanzang, and the Miraculous Practitioner Su Yue-E
At Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, if you are truly practising and sincerely working to change your personality, the interference from beings is extremely intense. I cannot use mere words to describe the state of mind when one is under attack by these beings; I can only share the phenomena so that you may gain a slight sense of it. When I first arrived at the temple, during the morning service of prostrations, fellow practitioners described that upon my very first bow, I simply stopped and remained motionless on the ground.
During the morning service, while reciting the Infinite Life Sutra, I would fall asleep after chanting just one sentence while sitting. If I knelt to recite a page, I would fall asleep. If I stood to recite a chapter, I would fall asleep. Once, I went outdoors to recite while walking, but I became so dizzy that I walked into a pillar four times, even breaking my glasses.
When attending lectures, fellow practitioners observed that after I sat down and finished chanting the Buddha-name ten times, Practitioner Su would begin her teaching. Within three seconds, I would be fast asleep. After being woken up by Practitioner Su, I would go to the back of the classroom to prostrate while listening. I wonder if you have ever experienced a high fever or the feeling of your entire body being limp and powerless? That was the state I was in while trying to prostrate at the back. I could not complete a single bow; if I stood up, I would feel dizzy and collapse, unable to rise from a squatting position or move while lying on the floor.
Whenever I attended a Dharma assembly, I would fall asleep during any ritual. If the ritual required kneeling, I would instantly enter a dream state. I was often thrown around in these dreams. Once, quite embarrassingly, I saw in a dream a being kicking my chin from the front, and in reality, I instantly fell backward onto the floor, performing a farce in front of all the fellow practitioners.
The Reality of Karmic Debt
Many people might ask if this is because I do not sleep enough at night. However, I was sleeping all day, and the total time already exceeded eight hours. More importantly, is only a minor part—the mildest symptom—of what I experienced. Let me describe the symptoms that occurred throughout my body: dizziness, headaches, blurred vision, eye pressure, nausea, hallucinations, pain in the thighs and calves, knee pain, multiple points of suppuration and bleeding on the knees, runny nose, coughing, sore throat, tongue pain, oral pain, vomiting and diarrhoea, total body weakness, and overall body aches.
Some might ask, "Why didn't you see a doctor? Why did you become so ill after going to the temple?" Please do not misunderstand. All the illnesses I mentioned were actually my karmic creditors coming to collect their debts. How can this be proven? Because once these beings were invited out, I recovered immediately. No matter how severe the symptoms were, they would subside the moment the beings were invited out, and after an hour to half a day of natural bodily recovery, I would be fully healed. Then, as I continued my practice, a new group of beings would begin their attack, with different locations and completely different symptoms. I ask you, dear readers, what kind of serious illness can be cured in one hour? And what kind of situation allows one to contract seven different illnesses within a week? This is not an isolated case at the temple. Every practitioner has different from past lives, and thus different symptoms, but in every case, the symptoms subside after the beings are invited out. If one is willing to change their personality, the illness will be cured. If one does not change, the next group of beings will arrive immediately.
I have personally experienced this for an entire year; it is impossible for me not to believe it. Moreover, in the year or more that I have been at the temple, despite the severity of these symptoms, I have not seen a doctor once, nor have I taken a single pill. Hearing this, some might be curious: "If you didn't go to the temple, wouldn't you have been fine?" On the contrary, if these beings are within you and are not invited out, when the time comes, those destined for cancer will get cancer, those destined for chronic illness will suffer from it, those destined for dementia will become demented, those needing surgery will go for surgery, and those destined to be in a vegetative state will become so. These are all cases of karmic creditors seeking revenge, without exception. Therefore, only by practising and changing one's personality early can one have the opportunity to avoid illness and prevent cellular ageing.
Furthermore, as I have become increasingly purified, some of my innate abilities have gradually recovered. Although not yet fully restored, I can now sense which part of my body the beings are in and what kind of attack they are launching. I can also see whether other practitioners are currently being controlled by beings. This has further strengthened my belief in the entire matter. After all, I can feel very clearly which part of me is being controlled or attacked. The fact that each part of my body returns to normal after the beings are invited out completely confirms the reality of these beings residing within .
The Truth Behind the Past
The final point is the most shocking. Every time we invite the beings out, we interview them to hear their accusations against me, hoping to understand what I did wrong in my past lives and what personality traits and habits caused their deaths. Only after seeing my memorial tablet did I realise that without the teachings of Namo Amituofo, it would be impossible for me to resolve these conflicts with the beings. To put it simply, in my past twenty lifetimes, I have been a monk, a Confucian scholar, a general, a government official, and a great demon in the Demon Realm. In these lives, I did some good, but I also did many bad things. The beings I harmed are now all within me.
It is no wonder that I have been sickly since childhood, and now, after I turned thirty, a large group of beings has begun their campaign of revenge.
Before entering the temple, my physical soul and soul had already been kicked out of my body. My main soul was locked in my heart, and of my seven po souls, only four remained, which is why my body began to fail. After practising for a while, because I had not yet changed my personality, the beings accused me before the King of Hell. After the trial, one of my souls went to the heart-gouging hell, and another went to the brain-gouging hell. Fortunately, I came into contact with Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in time. Through practice and changing my personality, combined with the help of Namo Amituofo, my three hun souls and seven po souls have now returned to my body; otherwise, I would have been hospitalised long ago. In fact, I was originally destined for a short life, but since coming to the temple, my lifespan has been extended. As for how much longer it can be extended, it depends on whether I can truly change my personality until I am completely free of it, which is the only way to escape the fate of aging, sickness, and death.
Having understood the truth about these beings, can I really change my destiny through the Buddha’s teachings? How can we verify that Namo Amituofo truly abides at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre? How can we verify the authenticity of the wide range of interview records from the temple? For details, please see Part Three (Conclusion):

Part Three (Conclusion): The Inconceivable Sights I Witnessed at the Buddha-land
In the previous section, I mentioned my initial experience with the reality of these beings at the temple, but many phenomena still require verification. Therefore, I will continue to introduce the inconceivable sights I have seen at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Below are a few phenomena that are easier for everyone to understand.
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
At Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, because Namo Amituofo is the abbot and Great Master Xuanzang is here teaching, whenever you encounter any difficulties in your practice or life, you can raise them to the Buddha and the Teacher. As long as you follow the Buddha's guidance, your problems can be solved. Such magnificent teaching conditions are something I have never encountered before. Some might ask, "Isn't it the same if I read the Sutras myself or study on my own? There are many temples and monks in Taiwan; isn't it the same if I ask them?" It is easier to understand with this analogy: Have you ever had the experience of sitting in a class where the teacher is speaking on stage, but you do not understand? You think about it and research it for a long time, but you still do not understand. After class, when you ask a classmate or go to a tutoring centre, you find it much easier to grasp. This story illustrates the biggest difference between the Buddha's teachings and human-world education. Because the Buddha teaches with a single voice, beings understand according to their own capacity. As long as the Buddha gives teachings tailored to your specific problems, the answer provided is exactly what you can understand and need most at that moment. It is not only easy to understand, but it also makes you agree from the bottom of your heart, without the need for guessing, questioning, or agonizing. Your most genuine questions, no matter how you hide them, and no matter how your karmic creditors try to sway your perspective, the Buddha will give you the most authentic and useful answer. The moment you hear the answer, you will have a realization.
All Things Have Spirit
The interview records contain a wide variety of accounts. How can we verify that these records are true? I have witnessed the interview process myself. The process is: join palms, chant the Buddha-name ten times, and write five thousand words in one go. It is that direct and natural. Moreover, there are now six other Venerables and lay practitioners at the temple who can conduct interviews besides Practitioner Su, and the number is still growing. All things have spirit, and all things can communicate.
Perhaps you do not quite understand the impact of this concept on temple life. It means that if you are lazy at work, do not think that no one knows. For example, if you are not diligent in mowing the grass, watering the flowers, or tidying the garden, the plants and trees will go and complain to Practitioner Su. Furthermore, if you walk without chanting the Buddha-name or without performing for the beings on the road, the beings will go and report you to Practitioner Su. I was once complained about by the garden plants because I was walking without chanting in my heart; it truly broadened my horizons. Even the birds, tables, chairs, computers, and microphones in the temple can be spoken to. They were all human in the past, and just before they died, a single thought of a bird, table, chair, computer, or microphone led them to be reborn as these things. Among them are many Australians, as well as Taiwanese and Chinese people.
Phenomena in the Sky
Have you ever seen a sky covered in dark clouds turn into a clear, cloudless sky after an hour of Dharma assembly? Have you ever seen a clear, cloudless sky become filled with raging storms within an hour after beings flooded in? Have you seen raging storms or even hail turn into calm, windless, and rainless weather after ten minutes of Chao Du in a Dharma assembly? Perhaps some have seen this, but what if this happens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? Would you not feel that such weather is unusual? Yes, this is the true situation at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre.
The Infinite Beings of the Sky
The sky above is filled with immeasurable and boundless beings. There are beings of the air, beings dwelling within the clouds, celestial beings from the first to the twenty-eighth heaven, beings from the Four Sacred Realms, celestial beings of the universe, extraterrestrial spirits, and demon crowds. Therefore, when a Dharma assembly is held to perform Chao Du, these beings gather in the sky above the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. The resulting celestial phenomena are incredibly diverse and spectacular. Fierce winds, torrential rain, thunder, and lightning are common occurrences during these times. Yet, once Namo Amituofo guides these beings away to the Western Pure Land, the weather returns to normal, and the sky clears until it is vast and cloudless. These dramatic transformations often occur within a single hour. I, Fa Ru, had truly never witnessed such rapidly changing weather patterns before, and it is remarkable that they consistently occur during our Dharma assemblies on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Have you ever witnessed the golden light of dawn or sunset? Have you ever seen thin clouds in the sky arrange themselves into the vast shapes of lotuses and phoenixes? Have you ever seen a sky where dark, heavy clouds and a perfectly clear, blue expanse are divided by a single, straight line? There are far too many supernatural phenomena to describe in detail. We warmly welcome you to come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in person to witness these extraordinary sights with your own eyes.
The Miraculous Practitioner Su
Practitioner Su, whose given name is Su Yue'e, is the founder of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. She is also the teacher responsible for explaining the teachings of Namo Amituofo. Many years ago, she followed the Venerable Master Chin Kung to learn the Pure Land Dharma Gate, and she dedicated her entire life to this practice. Later, she sold all her properties to purchase land in Australia, where she built this temple to provide a place for everyone to practise. Today, she is eighty years old, yet her physical vitality far exceeds that of a thirty-year-old like me. She sleeps less than two hours every night, and she takes no naps or breaks during the day. You will see her busy from dawn until dusk, for her workload is the greatest of anyone in the entire temple.
Her daily responsibilities are vast and demanding:
- She delivers Dharma talks for nine and a half hours every single day.
- Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, she serves as the cantor for the Dharma assembly, presiding over the ceremonies for twelve hours each day for three consecutive days.
- She manages the grocery shopping for thirty people in the temple. Because the temple is located in a remote area, she drives four hours round-trip to Brisbane. Even at eighty years old, she drives at speeds of 140 kilometres per hour to reach shopping centres over one hundred kilometres away. She carries heavy loads of ingredients back to the temple, navigating every road—even those she has never travelled before—without the need for a navigation system.
- She oversees the seasoning and menu design for all temple meals.
- She is responsible for the overall architectural planning and interior design of the temple.
- She manages the design of the temple gardens, vegetable patches, and paving projects.
- She plans the landscaping and the planting of windbreak forests.
- Most importantly, she is responsible for inviting spirits. She asks the Buddha about the problems of patients, and when the Buddha indicates which spirits can be invited out, Practitioner Su takes on the task of inviting them. In other words, she is responsible for the healing of everyone in the temple.
A Spirit That Never Dies
Perhaps you might ask, can others in the temple not help her? The other Venerables and volunteers at the temple are, of course, also very busy. However, they do not possess the same physical vitality as Practitioner Su. Although they are twenty to fifty years younger than her, in terms of physical age and energy, Practitioner Su is younger than everyone else. Therefore, no one can do as much as she does. You may have heard of eighty-year-olds who are still agile, but Practitioner Su is not merely agile; if you were to combine the spirit, energy, physical strength, and speed of everyone in the temple, it would still not equal that of Practitioner Su alone.
She sleeps less than anyone else, yet when she gives Dharma talks, while others may feel drowsy, she remains full of energy. During Dharma assemblies, when others might feel tired, her chanting remains powerful enough to shake the entire hall. At night, when everyone else is asleep, she is still busy performing Chao Du for sentient beings. In the morning, before anyone else has risen, she has already begun her work of delivering sentient beings. It is this miraculous, inconceivable eighty-year-old Practitioner Su who has made me, Fa Ru, truly believe that there is hope in learning the Buddha’s teachings. I have realised that being selfish and only looking after oneself leads to ruin, while serving all beings is the true path to remaining ageless, free from illness, and achieving a spirit that never dies.
The True Path of Education
I am an intellectual. It was the internet that nearly destroyed me. My background in electrical engineering and power electronics was entirely focused on pursuing external technology, until eventually, my body began to show warning signs, and I could no longer take charge of my own life. Looking at the illnesses I suffered, if they had all erupted at once in my old age, I would likely have entered a hospital never to return. To put it plainly, my illness could only be cured by the Buddha.
After seeing the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre on the website, I was sceptical and did not believe it until I verified it myself. Now, having verified it, I bow down to the Buddha with my whole heart. If it were not for the vastness of the Buddha’s teachings, I would never have been able to let go of my identity as a PhD holder. I have seen with my own eyes that every step Practitioner Su takes is in accordance with the Buddha’s teachings. The result of her practice is that one can truly remain ageless and free from illness. This is a high technology of the spirit, and it also leads to a spirit that never dies.
People today have some misunderstandings about the Buddha’s teachings. In reality, the Buddha’s teachings are education, not a religion. Most people have not changed their personalities and are merely following blindly. Upon arriving at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I learned that this is a place for spiritual elevation. You must change your personality. Therefore, at this temple, we listen to the teachings of Namo Amituofo three days a week, and the teachings of Great Master Xuanzang three days a week, while Practitioner Su explains the true nature of life to us.
The Call to Verify
After listening to the Buddha’s discourse, the teacher’s guidance, and Practitioner Su’s explanations, I learned that there are karmic creditors within our own cells, some of whom have been with us for billions of years. The Buddha’s education teaches us to be purely good and simple, to have moral foundations, and to follow the universal principle. If you do this, your body will not age or become ill; this is something you can see for yourself in Practitioner Su.
I found the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre on the website and verified that the Buddha truly abides here. I have been at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre for a year now. Having verified the vastness of the Buddha’s teachings, I have decided to ordain and learn the skills of Namo Amituofo. Through the Buddha’s teachings, I have learned that the Dharma is here to save our bodies and our spirits. We must change our personalities and follow the teachings. We must not look at things negatively; we must look at the good in everything. To learn the Buddha’s teachings, one must have a vast mind-capacity, , and tolerance. Most education in the outside world is for the sake of , teaching you to compete and fight, which prevents you from reaching Awakening.
I encourage everyone to come and get to know the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. If you do not believe it, come and stay for a week or two, and you will know whether it is true or false. For those who are connected by karmic affinity and wish to verify this for themselves, you are most welcome to come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. I, Fa Ru, once again proclaim to the whole world: if you do not wish to age or become ill, take the opportunity while you are still young to get to know the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and come to see the Buddha. The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is difficult to encounter in millions of years. Here, you can speak directly with the Buddha, and the Buddha can answer all your questions. We welcome everyone to come and verify this for yourselves.
May the Buddha have compassion. Namo Amituofo.
