To walk the path of practice is to undergo a fundamental shift in how you exist in this world. It is a transition from the external to the internal, and from the ego to the selfless. Consider the profound changes that occur as you commit yourself to this way of life: you move from a life of constant, frantic activity to one of inner stillness; you leave behind the noise and conflict of the world to embrace a life of quiet harmony; you transform the into the purification of are pure; you replace Greed, Anger, Ignorance, Arrogance, and Doubt with their opposites: contentment, , wisdom, humility, and faith; you move from a mind cluttered with endless, habitual thoughts to a state of pure, empty awareness; you look within to find your true self; you let go of your stubborn ego to embrace harmony and the truth of ; you move from acting alone to listening and working in cooperation with others; and you transition from unrestrained freedom to communal discipline. You must remain vigilant and cautious at every step. The difference is that while you once lived for your own sake, you now live for the sake of all beings.
Throughout this journey, you must continuously listen to the teachings, adjust your conduct, change your ways, repent for past mistakes, and engage in diligent practice. Only through this consistent effort will you find the opportunity for true change. As you move forward, keep the Six Paramitas as your guiding light: Generosity, Discipline, Patience, Diligent Practice, Meditation, and Wisdom. Your first goal is to rediscover your true self. Once you have achieved this, you can join the ranks of those who are dedicated to saving the world and helping all beings find rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss.
Why do we strive so hard? It is because the suffering of beings is immense. They suffer in a world of turbidity without the opportunity to receive proper Buddhist education. They are trapped by habitual thinking that is difficult to break and even harder to purify. They suffer from the manifestation of , a burden that no one else can carry for them.
Throughout this journey, you are never alone. You are accompanied by , Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su. Even when external demons come to disturb you or internal demons manifest within your own mind, you have the guidance of Practitioner Su, who is skilled in subduing demonic enemies and revealing the subtle, profound .
