The Joy of Righteous Living

To understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, as well as the laws of and cause and effect, is to understand the reality of our existence. Knowing that you are practising at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre provides you with a rare opportunity to rediscover your true self. This is what we call the Joyful Practice. This practice is not merely internal; it is expressed through your service to the community. Whether you are working in the kitchen or the laundry room, your service helps others focus on their spiritual achievements, ensuring that their progress is guaranteed to grow.

  • Nourishing and Mind: By preparing meals, you ensure that the physical body is at ease, allowing practitioners to focus on their practice. During the Dharma assembly, we offer these meals to all sentient beings in the Dharma realm, thereby creating extensive Dharma affinity.
  • Purifying the Environment: By ensuring that clothing is clean, you are metaphorically washing away the accumulated filth of the body, mind, and spirit, allowing one to remove defilements and attain purity.

The Path of Joyful Chanting

When you chant the name of Namo Amituofo, keep the Buddha in your heart at all times. Let every single recitation of the Buddha-name flow continuously, like a river that never ceases. As you chant, you gradually break down your delusions, discriminations, and attachments. When you chant until your heart is filled with joy, and your mind becomes pure and settled in meditative concentration, you have truly entered the state of Joyful Chanting. This is the essence of our practice: to leave suffering behind and find happiness, guided always by the light of Namo Amituofo. Namo Amituofo.
