The Manifestation of Spirits from the True Nature

Every single being possesses an original, true self-nature. Before one reaches the state of , however, the heart is influenced by different actions and intentions. These diverse karmic activities lead beings to manifest in various forms across the six realms of existence. They may find themselves in this world or in other, distant spaces throughout the vast universe.

Those who have realised their true nature and possess true attainment can manifest in different ways depending on the people they encounter, the places they inhabit, and the tasks they perform. Their methods for saving beings are diverse, yet everything they do arises from their true nature and never violates the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.

The Unique Tapestry of the

For those who have not yet reached Awakening, the diversity of spirits is caused by their own . We receive the fruits of our past actions, which form our unique lives and the conditions we encounter. Every spirit possesses an Alaya , the storehouse where all karmic seeds are kept. Although there are countless beings, no two Alaya consciousnesses are identical. This is why each spirit is distinct, leading to a vast spectrum of possibilities:

  • One may become a Buddha.
  • One may fall into the path of a demon.
  • One may exist as a being within the six realms of existence or among the four holy assemblies.
  • One may even manifest as an evil spirit.

The Endless Odyssey Through the Realm

Regardless of these manifestations, the life of a spirit is without beginning or end. Throughout accumulated lifetimes, we have been reincarnated across the six realms, the Dharma Realm, and the entire universe. We have been travelling from this world to that world, and from this space to that space. The various forms that spirits take within the Dharma Realm are all projections of the heart. These different spirits form different physical bodies and appearances. Each has its own vitality and a lifespan that is uncertain, varying in length and duration.

The Precious Encounter with the Buddha’s Light

In the midst of this cycle, encountering the Buddha’s teachings during this current life is a rare and precious event for one’s spiritual life. It is a unique opportunity to engage in purification within the Buddha’s gate, to reach Awakening, and to rediscover one’s true nature. Wherever Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and those who have realised their true nature reside, all beings connected by karmic affinity can receive the benefits of the Dharma. They can resolve their confusion, leave suffering behind and find happiness. This is the greatest blessing for all beings in the presence of such holy ones.

The Universal Gateway to Ultimate Bliss

The true self-nature has a common essence: it is inherently still, inherently pure, and inherently complete. Although it appears as a state of emptiness, it encompasses all things. The magnificence of the path of chanting Namo Amituofo lies in its universality. Even though different spirits form immeasurable and boundless beings with vastly different life experiences, they can all follow the same path:

  • From the initial arousal of the heart to the final attainment of Buddhahood.
  • By chanting Namo Amituofo all the way.
  • By relying on this supreme Dharma to attain Buddhahood.

It is my sincere hope that all beings can overcome their obstacles, hold firmly to the Buddha-name, and make the vow to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Please arouse the mind and single-mindedly recite Namo Amituofo, so that you may fulfil your wish and attain Buddhahood!
