Words of . Recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe. On this day, July 11, 2025, Namo Amituofo offers this discourse on the nature of renewal and the path of the practitioner.
Any new atmosphere—whether it manifests as the continuation of an environment, the construction of new facilities, or a profound transformation and replacement of the old—does not arise by chance. It is fundamentally rooted in the presence of a vow, the sincerity of one's aspiration, and the reality of diligent practice. Without these three pillars, there can be no true new atmosphere.
We may speak of a new atmosphere, but in truth, this is a new manifestation of the heart. It arises because the heart itself has undergone a transformation. When the heart turns toward the light, the external world reflects this change. It is only through such positive, collective development that we can truly speak of a new atmosphere.
Once this new atmosphere is established, you must proceed according to your vows. What is this vow?
