The Wisdom of Looking Inward

Namo Amituofo's discourse:

To seek answers within in all matters, rather than looking outward, is the mark of one who understands self-restraint. To reflect inward in all matters, rather than blaming the external world or viewing external conditions as inherently flawed, is the mark of one who can gather their focus to keep their body, heart, and actions on the right path, ensuring they do not stray.

For the practitioner, this is the essence of upholding the without violation. Everything you do is for the benefit of all beings and the benefit of the community, rather than for personal gain. Every word you speak is for the benefit of all beings and the benefit of the community, rather than for personal gain.

Purifying the Source of Every Thought

An awakened being acts from a state of no-thought, which is the highest form of wisdom. However, before one reaches the state of no-thought, every single intention must be virtuous. Without the slightest trace of evil thoughts mixed within, one reaches a state of pure goodness. Only then can one influence and purify the beings within one's own body, including the countless cells, , attached spirits, and even the demon crowds.

A practitioner who can act in this way is one who demands excellence from within. They remain undisturbed by external environments, which would otherwise confuse their right knowledge, right view, and right practice. They never depart from the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.

Thoughts are of vital importance. Those who achieve spiritual success are those who know how to protect their thoughts with great care, strictly demanding that they look inward and improve step by step, never allowing their mind to become polluted.

Cultivating the

Pollution is the greatest enemy of an awakened being. By understanding this, one realises the importance of thinking well, seeing well, speaking well, and doing well. This is how one can give rise to all roots of goodness and achieve the fruit of , which is the intention of an awakened being.

An awakened being acts without the need for deliberate thought. Yet, if a thought does arise, it is immediately rooted in goodness. Because the very origin and root of the thought are virtuous, everything that grows from it—the stem, the leaves, and the fruit—will also be virtuous. This leads to the fruit of Bodhi, which is the realisation of one's true nature and the attainment of Buddhahood. This is a result that brings to all.

The Infinite Benefit of

When one person succeeds in realising their true nature and attaining Buddhahood, the impact is immeasurable. Through this achievement, infinite and boundless beings will receive the benefits of the . They will be able to find liberation from the cycle of reincarnation and be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss.

This is a matter of the utmost importance. It begins with the simple, yet profound, act of looking inward and engaging in constant self-reflection. Namo Amituofo.
