The Peril of Collective Error
The Thirtieth Letter of President Zhao Puchu

The Solitary Red Piece
Within a vast array of white chess pieces, a single red piece appears. In most instances, this red piece is the one that is marginalised, excluded, and pushed aside by the majority. Yet, it is entirely possible that this solitary piece is the only one that is truly correct. It stands apart, not because it seeks conflict, but because it holds a truth that the others have forgotten or chosen to ignore.
It is a natural human tendency to seek safety in numbers. Following the crowd often feels secure, as it spares one from the loneliness of walking a path alone. However, one must ask: is the act of following the crowd always the correct choice? Is the majority always aligned with the truth?
The Illusion of Safety in Numbers
Following the crowd is a common psychological phenomenon. We often adopt the beliefs and values of the majority without question. When no one has the courage to step out of line, we easily fall into the trap of collective error. The power of the crowd is immense. Most people operate with a mindset that prioritises conformity over critical thought. They think: if I follow the crowd, I do not need to have my own ideas, and I do not need to take responsibility for my own direction. It is comfortable to be just like everyone else.
However, if the collective direction is fundamentally flawed, the consequences are catastrophic. Imagine a vast, endless stream of people, one after another, marching toward the edge of a deep, dark valley. They continue to move forward, eyes fixed only on the backs of those in front of them. They cannot see the horizon; they cannot see the danger ahead. They only see a sea of people, and they feel safe within that crowd. Yet, as they march forward, the number of people in front of them begins to dwindle. It is only when they reach the very front, when there is no one left to follow, that they realise they are standing at the edge of a dark, bottomless abyss. The masses who were once ahead have already fallen one by one into the depths. By the time one realises the error, there is no path back, and one is forced to jump into the void, while the massive crowd behind continues to march blindly toward the same tragic fate.
The Courage to Awaken
Who among us is willing to stand up and shout, "We are wrong! Please, turn back!"? To do so requires immense courage and great strength. One must be brave enough to speak out clearly, to pierce through the noise of the crowd and allow everyone to awaken in an instant. This voice must be firm and resolute, rising above the chorus of opposition and disbelief. It is precisely because this is so difficult that so few are ever saved.
Do you realise that the society we live in today is experiencing this very phenomenon? The path that so many are currently pursuing is a dead end. Please, wake up! Everyone, please awaken! Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre is that red piece. Every word and every sentence shared here is the truth, transmitted directly from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I urge you all to turn back now and return to the path that leads to the West.
Returning to the True Path
Look at what lies before you. Right now, you see a vast crowd of people, but in a short while, that path will lead only to darkness and a sea of fire. Before you reach the very end, there is still an opportunity to change your course. Please, tell everyone you know: do not continue to walk in the wrong direction. The time to turn back is now. Namo Amituofo.
