The Essence of Spiritual Breakthrough

Breakthrough is not merely a concept; it is the act of transforming the direction of your heart and the sincerity of your vows into a tangible, driving force. It is this force that allows you to alter your current circumstances and make genuine progress in your spiritual life. If your heart lacks a clear direction and lacks the strength of a vow, where would the power for a breakthrough come from? Without this inner resolve, how could you possibly change your situation or advance toward the Truth?

True spiritual practice is a continuous, unfolding process of breakthroughs. It begins the moment you make a sincere vow to practise. From that point forward, you must commit to a series of transformations that encompass your body, your mind, and your very behaviour. You will face many challenges, including environmental obstacles, interpersonal conflicts, and various internal barriers. It is only by confronting and overcoming these hurdles that you truly step onto the path of practice.

The Necessity of Letting Go

As you move forward with diligence, you must learn to "see through" and "let go" of the illusions of this world and your attachments. When you encounter a plateau in your practice or face a spiritual test, you must once again find the strength to break through by "seeing through" and "letting go" of your ego. If you fail to break through these barriers, you will find yourself standing still, or worse, regressing on your journey.

When you maintain an unwavering vow and continue to "see through" and "let go," you will eventually reach a state where your heart is empty and clear, free from all obstructions. This is the moment you see your true nature and rediscover the original, pristine state that every being possesses. In this process of moving from impurity to purity, you must break through the heavy weight of your , as well as the deep-seated ignorance, personality flaws, and habitual tendencies that have been revealed in this lifetime.

Resolving Karmic Debts

To succeed, you must possess great courage and immense strength. You must work to resolve the past karma between yourself and your , one layer at a time. As you strive to change your personality traits, you will inevitably face deeper layers of karma and more complex obstacles. For those karmic forces that have not yet manifested, do not disturb them. Instead, maintain a calm and steady state of mind, and focus on the work of to deliver sentient beings to the of Ultimate Bliss or to the realms of humans and gods. This is the core of the Chao Du work performed at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre.
