The Search for Inner Silence

My dear children, have you ever found yourselves in an environment of absolute stillness? Have you ever taken the time to sit quietly and listen—not to the world around you, but to the subtle, profound sounds emanating from your own body and heart?

In this modern age, you have become accustomed to living in a world of constant noise. Whether it is the clamour of the external environment or the internal chatter of your own thoughts, your hearts have grown habituated to seeking stimulation. You are constantly looking outward—seeing, hearing, and searching for various sensations to fill a perceived void within. You believe that by satisfying these desires for sound and external input, you are nourishing your inner life. However, in this relentless pursuit, you have inadvertently ignored the original, authentic voice that resides deep within you.

The Forgotten Sanctuary of the True Self

That inner voice is the state of your true self—a realm of original stillness, absolute purity, and boundless goodness. It is a state of radiant light. This is the world of your self-nature, yet it has been locked away in the deepest recesses of your heart. Because you have spent so long looking outward, you have become strangers to your own true nature.

You must realise that this true self is not a void; it is a vast, boundless, and serene power. It is a force that can penetrate through the limitations of time and space. Within this stillness lies an inexhaustible reservoir of wisdom and , waiting for you to uncover it.

The Path of , Concentration, and Wisdom

The power of stillness does not exist in isolation; it walks hand-in-hand with the practice of Precepts (Discipline), Concentration and Wisdom. When you cultivate this stillness, you begin to unlock the dormant energy within your spirit. This practice is essential for your spiritual journey:

  • It assists in ensuring your six roots are pure, allowing you to perceive the world without the distortions of greed, anger, and ignorance.
  • It elevates the quality of your spirit, moving you away from the turbulence of the six realms of rebirth.
  • It provides the necessary clarity to finally rediscover your true self, which is the ultimate goal of all Buddhist practice.

Do not let your life pass by in a blur of external noise. Return to the stillness, for it is there that you will find the truth of your existence and the path to ultimate liberation. Namo Amituofo.
