Teachings from Namo Amituofo:

To be truly willing is far more than a simple agreement. It is a profound expression of your heart's true intent. When you are truly willing, your actions arise naturally from within, free from any sense of coercion, hesitation, or external pressure. It is a state of total sincerity that serves as the foundation for all genuine spiritual progress.

The Heart of True Willingness

In your spiritual practice, this willingness must manifest as both consistent action and unwavering perseverance. It is not enough to merely feel willing; you must embody this willingness through your daily conduct. You must demonstrate the strength of character required to stay the course, even when the path becomes steep or challenging. When you encounter opportunities to engage in goodness or to perform virtuous deeds, you should act upon them immediately and directly.

This is the most effective method to counteract the selfish tendencies of the ego. Although you may feel that you are dedicating your precious time, energy, and physical strength to serving others rather than benefiting yourself, the reality is quite different. In truth, the person who benefits the most from this service is you. Helping others is, in the most fundamental sense, helping yourself.

The Hidden Benefit of Selfless Service

Most people have become accustomed to only performing tasks that provide immediate, tangible benefits to their own lives. If a task does not appear to serve their personal interests, they often set it aside or reject it entirely. However, they fail to realise that everything in this universe is governed by the laws of and cause and effect. Many of the negative consequences and suffering we endure in life can be resolved through the simple act of actively giving and helping others. This is the essence of eliminating disasters and removing obstacles.

  • Active Giving:
  • By choosing to serve others, you create positive .Resolving Karma:
  • Many past grievances are naturally resolved when you shift your focus from self-interest to the welfare of the collective.Cultivating : Willingness is the antidote to laziness, distraction, and a lack of compassion.

Aligning with the Universal Principle

Spiritual practice is the process of recognising the true reality of existence. It involves adjusting your improper thoughts and behaviours so that they align with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. By doing so, you prevent yourself from committing further errors. Through diligent practice and the courage to change your ways, you can wash away the accumulated dust and grime of past lifetimes.

As you continue to stop doing evil, cultivate goodness, and accumulate merit and virtue, you will find moments of profound . Gradually, your path will become clearer, and you will move closer to the day when you finally rediscover your true self.

The Three Pillars of Rebirth

For those practitioners who wish to be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss, it is essential to remember the teaching that one cannot be reborn in that land with only a small amount of good roots, , and causal conditions. These three elements are vital:

  • Good Roots:
  • These are inherent in your true self, though they have been covered by the pollution of aeons. When you are willing to serve and practise, you wash away this dust, allowing your good roots to manifest naturally.Blessings:
  • These are the result of your past and present virtuous deeds. You must continue to cherish your blessings, cultivate new ones, and accumulate them through selfless action.Virtue: This is gained through self-discipline, self-restraint, and the strict observance of the . It is accumulated bit by bit in your daily life.

The Fragrance of Virtue

In the Infinite Life Sutra (The Buddha Speaks the , Infinite Life, Adornment, Purity, Impartiality, and Sutra), there is a beautiful description of the fragrance of virtue. This is not a physical scent, but the natural, luminous quality that radiates from a person who has truly cultivated their character. Such a practitioner is naturally respected by all. The accumulation of good causal conditions is achieved by broadly forming affinities with all beings and practising Generosity. The laws of karma and cause and effect are the Universal Principle; when you plant a good cause and the conditions mature, the result will inevitably manifest.

If we speak of the magnificent results of this practice, it is the rare opportunity to hear the Buddha’s teachings on the Pure Land. It is the chance to encounter true spiritual friends such as Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su. By following their guidance and engaging in diligent practice, you will achieve the result of seeing your true nature and being reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. May you continue to follow the Buddha in saving the world and helping all beings be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
