The Infinite Flow of the Eternal Spirit

The life of the spirit is vast and boundless. It has no beginning in the distant past, and it shall have no end in the infinite future. We exist within a continuous flow of time. Countless moments gather to form the present, and countless presents gather to form the now. Yet, even as we speak, the moment that existed just before this one has already slipped away into the past. This is the constant, flowing nature of time, and we spend our lives passing through these seconds and minutes.

These moments are so fleeting that they are difficult for you to grasp. Because they pass with such incredible speed, you must learn to use your time wisely. You should understand the profound value of every single minute and second. In the span of a single breath, your entire existence in this human body is at stake. Does your life continue, or does it reach its conclusion?

The Fragile Breath of Human Existence

If the next breath does not come, the elements separate, and your life in this world comes to an end. At that moment, your practice ceases. If you have not yet seen your true nature, you will not know where you are going or where your spirit will find its home. When will you have the chance to encounter Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su again? More importantly, when will you finally be able to see your true nature?

Navigating the Currents of the World

At Hsiang Kuang: A Sacred Sanctuary, you must cherish every moment. It is a great pity if you allow your time to be spent in a state of or lost in the illusions of other spaces. You must not let your precious time slip away through the following distractions:

  • The : Greed, anger, delusion, arrogance, and doubt.
  • The : Wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep.
  • Negative emotions: Regret, hidden anger, unhappiness, and confusion.
  • Mental disturbances: Delusions, attachments, and discriminations.
  • Inner instability: Fluctuations of the heart, anxiety, and of injustice.

Cherish every moment; do not let them pass in vain.

The Unbroken Path of Diligent Practice

Instead, spend your minutes and seconds in the continuous, unbroken recitation of the Buddha-name. Let your heart, your mouth, your ears, your entire body’s cells, and your internal organs all be engaged in chanting Namo Amituofo. When you perform prostrations, let every movement be infused with the Buddha-name. When you recite the Sutras, do not dwell on the intellectual meaning of the text, for thinking creates movement and disturbs the purity of your mind. Simply recite each word and each sentence with absolute clarity.

to the Radiance of the True Self

Cherish every moment by ensuring your time is spent in the following ways: fiercely diligent practice, maintaining a steady and focused effort; service to others, dedicating your energy to helping all beings; listening to sutras and hearing the , deepening your understanding of the Truth; and cultivating a heart of gratitude, filling your life with and the bliss of the Dharma.

By ensuring that your Body-Mind-Spirit does not waste a single moment, you will achieve purification and inner peace. You will elevate the quality of your spirit, and in a state of and selflessness, you will finally see your true nature.
