This interview features the Rain God, Du Kexiao, who has been assigned by the Jade Emperor to guard the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. This conversation, which took place on the afternoon of October 21, 2020, explores the spiritual significance of the temple's environment and the ongoing efforts to restore the water levels in the temple's pond, a process essential for the Rain God's eventual deliverance through .

Du Kexiao speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Du Kexiao, the Rain God. I am currently stationed at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre under the direct orders of the Jade Emperor. My duty is to remain here, ready to follow instructions or to bring rain whenever the situation requires it. Regarding the pond located behind the temple, it has been suffering from a lack of water for quite some time. Practitioner Su has mentioned that once the water in this pond is full, it will be possible to write a memorial tablet to perform Chao Du for me. I am well aware of this, and I am observing the progress with great care."

The Thirst of the Earth

"The previous two instances of rainfall were absorbed directly into the parched ground of the pond bed. This was necessary to nourish the soil beneath the surface. Only once the ground has reached a sufficient level of moisture can the subsequent rainfall begin to accumulate and pool within the basin. It is a gradual process of restoration for the land itself."

A Shared

"At this moment, the pond is not yet full, and we must continue to observe the conditions. However, the rain has at least temporarily quenched the thirst of the ground, the creatures living beneath the soil, the animals, and the dust and sand of the land. Seeing the joy on everyone's faces when the rain finally falls—that brings me great happiness as well. I am grateful to be of service here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre.

Namo Amituofo."
