The Light Within the Shadows

Light appearing in the midst of darkness is a symbol of brightness and hope. When one is deeply trapped in the darkness of suffering, the of helplessness, fear, and terror are overwhelming. Only those who have personally experienced such states can truly understand and empathise with this struggle. It is much like the experience of someone who has never faced a life-threatening illness; they often fail to realise the preciousness of their existence and, consequently, do not know how to cherish their life. However, the eternal ray of hope does not come from an external source. It originates from the inexhaustible, luminous light that resides within your own heart.

The Journey of Purification

This inner light is revealed through the continuous process of purification. You must diligently work to remove the stains and defilements that have accumulated over countless lifetimes. By maintaining a state of pure goodness and consistently striving to become even purer and more virtuous, the light of your heart will naturally manifest. This is not a special ability reserved for a select few; it is the true self and the Buddha-nature that every being inherently possesses. This nature is not limited to the human world alone; all sentient beings, regardless of their form, possess this same radiant potential.

Rediscovering Our Original Nature

The reason we suffer is that our true nature is obscured by ignorance. This pollution acts as a veil, blocking the light of our hearts and causing our spirits to exist in a state of darkness, anxiety, and fear. This is the root cause of the various situations we face, such as lethargy, escapism, depression, and mood disorders. Only through dedicated practice can you find your way back to your true self and your original Buddha-nature. This is the profound benefit of spiritual practice. It allows you to peel away the layers of confusion and return to the clarity that was always yours.

A Beacon in the Five Turbidities

For any practitioner, the most important step is to encounter a true teacher of life. At the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, we are blessed to have the guidance of Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su. They serve as our spiritual guides, leading the fourfold assembly of disciples forward. They help us face and resolve the great matter of life and death, as well as any problems we encounter along the way. Through their , Wisdom, vast mind-capacity, and tolerance, they lead everyone to practise on the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. They teach us to understand the laws of and cause and effect, but most importantly, they help everyone rediscover their true self and Buddha-nature. In this way, the Centre acts as a true ray of hope, shining brightly within the darkness of the Five Turbidities and Evil World.
