The Sacred Silence of the Temple

The temple is a place of absolute purity. Why, then, do loud, thumping sounds echo through its halls, disturbing the peace and serenity of the assembly? It is essential for us to understand the nature of the space we occupy and the vast audience that is always present.

An Infinite Assembly Within the Realm

The assembly within the temple extends far beyond the human beings visible to the fourfold assembly. It encompasses the earthly creatures—every blade of grass, every leaf, every flower, every tree, the clouds, the rain, the morning dew, and the very air we breathe. It includes various animals, plants, insects, and all manner of crawling or flying creatures. Furthermore, it comprises the elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, as well as the various movable and immovable substances within the environment, including air, water molecules, and dust particles.

Beyond these, there are spirits from the six realms of existence, the four holy realms, and sentient beings across the stars in the Dharma realm. There are beings with physical bodies and spirits without a body, dwelling on land, in the sea, and in the air. There are simply too many beings to name, yet all of them share a deep connection with this temple.

The Unseen Threads of Interconnectedness

Because the temple is a space where the boundaries of time and space are transcended, it remains open to all. We treat every being with equality, for in the oneness of the Dharma, we are all inextricably linked. Therefore, any sound made within the temple resonates far beyond our physical ears. Those who are connected by karmic affinity can hear these sounds, and thus, the thumping noises we create are heard by countless beings throughout the Dharma realm.

This principle extends far beyond mere sound. The fluctuations of your thoughts, your mental notes, and even the most subtle movements of your mind are transmitted into the hearts of these beings. Any being capable of sensing these vibrations will receive your thoughts clearly. Furthermore, your physical actions—even the smallest movements you make when you believe you are alone—are observed by those who have the eyes to see. Nothing is hidden; every gesture is witnessed.

A Call to Vigilance and Pure Conduct

I ask the fourfold assembly and all my children to be mindful of this reality. You must keep your hearts upright and your thoughts pure. You must uphold the and follow the rules of the temple. Please walk softly, speak in gentle tones, or maintain silence when appropriate. You must be cautious in your speech and actions, always remaining mindful of the laws of and cause and effect.

When you are alone, do not fall into the trap of thinking that no one sees or knows what you are doing. You are being watched by countless beings. Do not harbour a sense of luck or assume that because you are unaware of the causes you create, there will be no consequences. The laws of karma and cause and effect are absolute; they manifest in response to our actions, and the connection between our deeds and their results is immediate.

The Dignity of the Awakened Heart

Do not engage in loud shouting or angry outbursts. Instead, remain vigilant and practise constant self-reflection. Do not look outward for faults or seek solutions in the external world. By maintaining the purity of the temple, you help to stabilise your own heart. More importantly, you avoid disturbing the quiet retreats and the peace of others. This is for the elevation of your virtue and spirit, and it reflects the true demeanour and perspective of those who have realised their true nature. Namo Amituofo.
