The Merit of Collective Effort

At Hsiang Kuang: A Sacred Sanctuary, the work of educating beings is a collective endeavour. When we engage in the division of labour, we are not merely completing tasks; we are participating in a sacred process. When these duties are fulfilled through cooperation, the merit and benefits generated are immense. This includes everyone who contributes in various ways: those who provide financial support, those who offer their physical labour, and those who supply the necessary materials for our work. All who participate, along with their connected beings, are able to receive this merit and these benefits.

Therefore, it is essential that we maintain harmonious relationships with one another in our daily lives. When we are busy, we must each do our utmost to fulfil our specific roles. By doing so, we ensure that our shared goals are accomplished as intended and on time. For those who serve in this way, your will never be in vain.

The Essence of Completion

What does it truly mean to complete a task? It is not just about finishing a list of chores. True completion involves several key principles:

  • No Limitations: We do not impose unnecessary restrictions on the work, allowing the Buddha's light to guide our actions.
  • Affinity: We ensure that our interactions with others are guided by the right Dharma affinity, fostering connection rather than division.
  • Resourcefulness: We make the best possible use of all materials, treating every item as a tool for the Buddha's work.

Division of labour should be practised in every moment. Whether it is a fleeting second or a longer duration, we must never depart from the Buddha. We must keep the Buddha in our hearts, in our vows, in our actions, in our speech, and in our sight.

Living the Buddha's Presence

To keep the Buddha in all aspects of our lives is not merely a mental exercise. It is a profound state of being that transforms our entire existence. Consider what it means to embody the Buddha in every facet of your life:

  • Heart like the Buddha-heart: You must maintain the Buddha's heart 24/7, in every passing second, and throughout this entire lifetime.
  • Vows like the Buddha-vow: You must never depart from the Forty-eight Great Vows of Namo Amituofo.
  • Actions like the Buddha-actions: Your every movement and deed must be in alignment with the Buddha's conduct.
  • Speech like the Buddha's speech: Your words should be pure, like a golden lotus blooming, and your presence should carry the fragrance of the lotus. The Buddha-name must arise from within your heart and flow forth from your lips.
  • Sight like the Buddha's sight: You must develop the ability to see clearly and with deep insight, as if through the Buddha's eyes.

When your heart, vows, actions, speech, and sight are pure and unstained, you will not violate the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Through this harmonious cooperation, we work together to accomplish the Buddha's work and the work of saving all beings.

Expanding the Mind-Capacity

Engaging in this division of labour allows us to expand our mind-capacity significantly. When we work together, we welcome beings from the ten directions, and we allow beings from the ten directions to participate in this shared mission. The Dharma affinity of Namo Amituofo permeates the entire Dharma Realm. Now that Namo Amituofo is truly present at Hsiang Kuang, all beings in the Dharma Realm can be saved. By chanting Namo Amituofo and making the sincere vow to be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss, we ensure our path to liberation. Namo Amituofo.
