The Seventh Letter: How to Walk the Path of Practice
A Letter from Lay Practitioner Zhao Liangyu
Recorded on July 28, 2017
To study the Buddha is to learn how to become a Buddha. To practise is to correct the erroneous behaviours of one's own body, speech, and mind. Today, I, Zhao Liangyu, wish to share with you my personal reflections on my lifelong journey of listening to the , and my profound experiences after hearing the teachings of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre.
A Mother’s Journey of Faith
In the past, when I lived in mainland China, I would overcome every obstacle to attend any Dharma talk given by a Venerable. It was through these Causal Conditions that my son, Dinghong, began to accompany me. He grew up surrounded by the atmosphere of the Dharma, naturally absorbing its wisdom. When Venerable Master Chin Kung began to propagate the great Pure Land teachings in the mainland, I felt incredibly fortunate. How blessed we were to encounter such an exceptional teacher! I brought my son to every single lecture, planting the seeds of a lifelong bond between him and Venerable Master Chin Kung, who became his teacher for this life and beyond.
Finding the True Path
Practitioner Su was enlightened under the guidance of Venerable Master Chin Kung and has been diligently practising the Dharma for thirty years. After listening to the teachings at the Dharma-Nature Land, and through the clear and accessible interpretations provided by Practitioner Su, I have come to a deeper realisation: human life is extremely difficult to obtain. If we do not study the Buddha's teachings, we are truly wasting this precious existence. Since the beginning of this year, I have felt even more deeply that Namo Amituofo is personally leading our temple, guiding us toward the gate of immortality in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
The Treasure of the Pure Land
Every morning, the Dharma teachings provided during the walking meditation are like refreshing rain after a long drought. They allow us to re-awaken our understanding of Faith, Vows, and Practice. You may ask: How should one walk the path of practice? How does one enter the Buddha’s gate? How should one cultivate? The answers are all here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, waiting for you to explore them.
- It is rare to encounter a true spiritual friend.
- The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is a precious land.
- Practitioner Su possesses great and vast vows.
- Namo Amituofo and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are truly present at the temple.
If you do not come to seek this treasure, it would be a great pity indeed.
A Call to Aspiring Practitioners
You might feel that I have not yet touched upon the core of the Buddha's teachings. Why is that? It is because the treasures here are so vast that you must come and seek them for yourself. I will share a small secret with you: not many people yet know about this hidden gem. You must come quickly so that you can join the elite group of practitioners. Practitioner Su is eager to pass on the Pure Land teachings and the unparalleled skills, actively cultivating talent to save the world. Whether you become a vessel of talent or remain someone who is trampled upon by others depends entirely on how you refine yourself. Are you a vessel that can be carved into gold? However, do not forget that these skills are meant for saving the world; they are not tools to be used for greed, fame, or profit. To use them for such purposes would be to create heavy .
The Path Forward
I have said so much, but it all depends on how much you truly believe and whether you are willing to put these teachings into action. I have not withheld the Dharma from you. I sincerely hope that such an excellent teacher and such profound Chao Du skills are passed down, for if they are not, it will be a tremendous loss for all sentient beings in the Dharma realm of emptiness. Practitioner Su can come and go from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss at will and has mastered the length of his own life. Do you believe this? Come and find out for yourself. This is a message shared with you by a mother who listens to the sutras and hears the Dharma at the Dharma-Nature Land.
