The Shared Path of All Buddhas
Words of Namo Amituofo
Recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe, on 25 July 2025
The Nature of the True Self
Namo Amituofo teaches us that our true self is synonymous with emptiness. To rediscover this true self is to rediscover the nature of emptiness itself; to realise this true self is to perceive the essence of emptiness. Although we describe this state as empty, it is by no means a state of nothingness. Within this void lies the potential for all things to manifest. When there is a need, it is present; when there is no need, it remains in a state of stillness. Within this vast expanse of all-encompassing existence, all Buddhas walk the same path. They respond to the hearts of all beings, adapting their teachings according to the capacity and understanding of each individual.
The Compassionate Response of the Buddhas
The Buddhas are entirely selfless and devoid of ego. They possess great and a profound understanding of the hearts of all beings, knowing intimately the struggles and difficulties that we face. When a being is ready to be saved, the Buddha will manifest in whatever form is necessary to deliver the teachings. While the methods employed may vary, the underlying truth remains identical. All Buddhas walk the same path, united by a single purpose: to assist all beings in overcoming their difficulties, to guide all beings away from their suffering, and to lead all beings toward the path of liberation.
Living by the Universal Principle
The Realm and the universe are boundless and infinite. Within this infinite space, there are countless beings, all of whom should conduct their lives according to the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. The Buddhas are the ultimate practitioners of this path. Because they possess a perfect understanding of the hearts of all beings, they can identify the root of our problems and act with perfect , flowing naturally with the Dharma. Even when the words or the perspectives they offer seem different, the intent is always the same: to open the hearts of beings, to resolve their inner conflicts, and to help them leave suffering behind.
The Supremacy of the
The Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is the supreme kingdom for attaining Buddhahood. In the lands of all other Buddhas, the resident Bodhisattvas also strive to attain Buddhahood. Because all Buddhas walk the same path, they recognise the unique magnificence and dignity of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is for this reason that all Buddhas praise Namo Amituofo and widely proclaim the virtues and goodness of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, encouraging all beings to seek rebirth there.
The Universal Benefit of the Dharma
In the state where the vast and the minute are one, and where the one and the many are identical, the Buddhas understand each other with perfect clarity. Although ordinary beings may not yet fully comprehend this, we can still receive the transformative power of the Dharma. By receiving these benefits, we can resolve our difficulties and leave our suffering behind. Even across different times and spaces, the path remains the same. It is the path that leads all beings to leave suffering behind, find happiness, and be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo.
