This is a record of an interview with Venerable Changgao, who reflects on the spiritual transformation of the virtuous ones from Hong Kong who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. This testimony was recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on April 9, 2019.

Venerable Changgao speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. We have been observing these virtuous ones from Hong Kong who arrived at our temple. Under the compassionate care of Practitioner Su and the fourfold assembly, they have gradually regained their spirits. They look so much better than when they first arrived! Through Practitioner Su's repeated missions to Hong Kong to save the world, these individuals have slowly lowered their internal defences, finally stepping onto this piece of Western Pure Land here in Australia."

The Purification of Body and Mind

"During these recent days of inviting spirits and conducting assemblies for deliverance, their bodies and minds have been purified, and they have become much clearer. We have witnessed the spirits residing within them being invited out in large batches. What left the deepest impression on me was the sheer volume of marine life. I never imagined that a human body could harbour so many different types of beings. Seeing so many unfamiliar marine creatures being invited out from within their bodies was truly astonishing to me, Changgao!"

The Cycle of Consumption

"To satisfy their own cravings, humans will eat anything. It is truly a case of 'It continues to grow and consume beings without pause.' Today you eat me, and in the next life, I eat you. If these virtuous ones were not currently residing in this Buddha-land, they would never have had the opportunity to have these beings invited out. Otherwise, the physical suffering they would endure later would be far worse than what we see now; it would be utterly unbearable."

The Burden of Karmic Debt

"I, Changgao, have observed that the bodies of these virtuous ones could no longer contain these spirits. Many of these marine beings and meat-based were actually spilling out of their bodies. In particular, a heavy, dark energy of resentment had formed outside their legs, pulling at them, which is why they inevitably experienced difficulty walking. Everyone should stop eating meat immediately and switch to a vegetarian diet. Otherwise, even after they are invited out, they will simply return, and you will continue to suffer just the same!"

and the Law of Cause and Effect

"Many of these beings were sent away during the Dharma assemblies, some during the ten minutes of chanting Namo Amituofo after our morning and evening study sessions, and others when we invited spirits to their memorial tablets. Truly, the Buddha’s compassion is boundless. I have observed that some of these beings were from meat consumed in past lives; many were hidden deep within , which prevented the meat consumed in this current life from entering the body, causing them to linger outside instead."

The Sensitivity of the Fourfold Assembly

"The karmic creditors have a specific order for seeking revenge. The response is even faster when one's 'self,' personal ego, and selfishness align with the beings. This is especially true for the Venerables of Hsiang Kuang and the fourfold assembly; because their bodies and minds are pure, their sensitivity to the spirits is particularly acute. Whether good or bad, virtuous or evil, the manifestations and responses are immediate—both in the physical and spiritual realms. This is happening at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre at every moment."

A Call for

"The fourfold assembly must be extremely cautious in their speech and actions. Especially when every thought and intention deviates, the spirits appear immediately, showing no mercy. Of course, nothing escapes the Buddha-eye of Practitioner Su. These beings are also children of the Buddha, so we must treat them with kindness, guide them well, and resolve their grievances. This is what Practitioner Su excels at, and it is a great blessing for the fourfold assembly at the temple. Because we have Practitioner Su looking after us, the spirits will show some mercy out of respect for her. However, if one does not endure a little suffering oneself, one cannot account for the debt to the spirits, and they will not be easily appeased. In any case, the grievances are always resolved! The spirits are very clear about our hearts; we must never lose patience or hold onto complaints. If we do, the resolution cannot achieve its maximum effect, which would be a great pity."

A Final Destination

"I, Changgao, believe that everyone who comes to this temple can return home with a full harvest, finding the ultimate destination of their lives and making the vow to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo."
