These teachings are offered by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe, on the thirty-first of January, 2026. As we navigate this complex existence, it is essential to reflect deeply upon the nature of our reality and the path that leads to true liberation.

The Myriad Sufferings of the World

The worldly realm is a place of profound suffering. We find ourselves caught in a cycle of endless challenges that touch every aspect of our lives:

  • The Suffering of Existence: We are trapped in the cycle of rebirth, moving through the six realms of rebirth, and enduring the inevitable hardships of birth, aging, sickness, and death.
  • The Suffering of the Heart: We are often entangled in complex emotions, unable to let go of attachments or see through the illusions that bind us.
  • The Suffering of : Our personalities are often difficult to transform, and we frequently fall into states of or mental confusion, losing our connection to the present moment.
  • The Suffering of Inner Conflict: We carry deep-seated dissatisfaction, jealousy, and an inability to accept the world as it is, leading to constant inner turmoil.
  • The Suffering of Unending Desire: We are driven by cravings that never find satisfaction, leading to a state of perpetual longing and restlessness.

These sufferings are difficult to endure and even harder to stop. Many people suffer from depression, anxiety, and a profound sense of being lost without an exit. When we refuse to listen to wise counsel, we suffer the consequences of our own actions, bound by both our collective and our individual karmic debts.

The Weight of the Five Turbidities

We live in what is known as the Five Turbidities and Evil World. This environment is characterised by several layers of suffering that cloud our true nature:

  • The Turbidity of the Kalpa: We live in an age where disasters, wars, and pandemics occur with alarming frequency. The forces of darkness are rising, and human strength alone is insufficient to resist them. Only through the power of the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas can we find protection and salvation.
  • The Turbidity of Views: People’s perspectives have become distorted. It is increasingly difficult to distinguish between good and evil, and the Right Path is often confused with false or misleading teachings.
  • The Turbidity of Afflictions: We are plagued by greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt. Driven by the —wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep—we create endless afflictions. Our Six Roots become stained and impure, and because we lack the strength to resolve these issues, we create the causes for suffering in the hells.
  • The Turbidity of Beings: Moral foundations have eroded, and good roots have become weak. It is difficult for the True Teachings to enter the hearts and ears of the people, as they are easily swayed by evil or misguided paths.
  • The Turbidity of Life: The lifespan of beings is gradually shortening. When life ends, it is difficult to escape the karmic consequences of our actions, leading us once again into the cycle of rebirth.

The Path to Salvation

How, then, can we be saved from this suffering? The answer lies in the widespread dissemination of Buddhist education. We must help the public understand the truth of the laws of karma and the cycle of rebirth. It is vital that we all come to understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
