This is a record of an interview with Venerable Changgao, who reflects upon the nature of trapped within the aftermath of sudden disasters. This account explores the spiritual mechanics of these 'disaster spaces' and the profound deliverance offered through the of Practitioner Su. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on April 7, 2023.

Venerable Changgao speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Life and death occur in a single, fleeting instant. Who among us can truly guarantee that their own life will endure for long? The arrival of impermanence is a force that no one can resist. Unless one has truly transcended their karmic burdens and attained liberation, it is nearly impossible to escape the cruel way fate toys with the human body.

When a soul is suddenly torn from at the moment of death, many remain trapped within a specific 'space.' They are often unaware that they have lost their physical form. They have rapidly entered the space that existed just before their final breath, and within that confined reality, they remain, unable to find a way out for a very long time.

The Prison of the Mind

Most spirits in this state do not even realise they are trapped in such a space. They are caught in a loop of their own consciousness. Unless someone comes to open up space for them—much like opening a door in a pitch-black room to reveal a bright, sunlit world outside—they remain stuck. They are forced to relive their final moments, repeatedly suffering, repeatedly experiencing the same shock, and repeatedly enduring the same injuries. They are trapped in a cycle of terror that feels unending.

Today, Practitioner Su’s performed a great , saving a vast number of souls who had entered these spaces in the blink of an eye. Most of these spirits lost their lives in sudden accidents or natural disasters, and from that moment on, they had never truly left that space of trauma.

The Echo of the Tsunami

Practitioner Su’s countless billions of manifestations entered the vast ocean to perform this deliverance, and immediately, layer upon layer of different spaces began to manifest. One of these spaces was the site of a massive tsunami that occurred over a decade ago—a catastrophe that claimed countless lives. From within that space, I could see the entire progression of the disaster unfolding, as clear as if it were happening right before my eyes.

The tsunami struck on an afternoon. At that time, many people were playing on the beach, and numerous homes were situated right along the coastline. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful, making it impossible for anyone to imagine that a great disaster was about to descend. Everyone present was enjoying themselves to the fullest. Suddenly, the ocean began to change. The seawater started to rise, and the winds and waves became monstrous. Most people did not feel anything was amiss; they assumed the weather was simply turning and that they would have plenty of time to leave later. It seems many people held this same thought, which is why they lost their sense of vigilance and failed to flee the scene in time.

The Inescapable Wave

The tsunami did not wait for anyone. It rapidly churned up massive, towering waves. When people finally saw it, they were so terrified that they screamed, desperately trying to run, but many were already so paralysed by fear that they could not move. In an instant, they were swallowed by the sea. Those who did manage to run found that no matter how fast they moved, they could not outrun the speed of the tsunami. The waves, standing three or four stories high, swept away every life in their path in a single moment, including the families living in the homes along the shore.

These people, who lost their lives in that single, shattering instant, have had their spirits trapped in that space ever since. They remain in the space just before and during the tsunami. They are still suffering, still terrified, and the tsunami continues to repeat itself over and over again. In reality, it is merely a space, but they do not know this.

The Light of Deliverance

There is not just one space; the space each person enters is different. If there were a hundred people at the scene, there would be a hundred different spaces. Because each person’s consciousness and perception of time differ, they enter different spaces, yet they are all experiencing the same scenario—the same natural disaster they shared in life.

Practitioner Su’s Body brought the Buddha-light into these realms. As soon as that compassionate Buddha-light shone down, the tsunami instantly ceased, and the entire ocean became calm and tranquil. Then, the sacred name of Namo Amituofo resonated throughout the space. The entire sky erupted in golden light. All the people within those spaces saw the Buddha-light and heard the Buddha-name. One by one, they awakened from the spaces they had entered, finally realising that they had been trapped.

Every victim was moved to tears. In their hearts, they felt profound gratitude to Practitioner Su for opening up space for them, allowing them to finally escape and ending their long suffering within those realms.

What I have described is just one of the many spaces where lives were lost in an instant. There are countless other spaces similar to this one, including those created by traffic accidents and other tragedies. Wherever Practitioner Su’s Dharma Body goes, any space where there are beings connected by karmic affinity can be revealed. Through the Buddha’s light brought by Practitioner Su, these spaces are opened, and the trapped spirits are saved and led to liberation.

Namo Amituofo."
