The True Meaning of Saving Beings
The Fifteenth Letter of President Zhao Puchu of the Buddhist Association of China
July 29, 2017
The Forgotten Vow of
To the practitioners of the , the term 'save' beings may seem familiar, yet how deeply does it resonate within your heart? For those who have recently entered the path of the Buddha, this concept is often the very spark that ignited your initial resolve. It is the compassionate vow that led you to leave the home life and dedicate yourself to the path of liberation. However, as time passes, one must ask: how much of that original intention remains in your daily practice today?
We often forget the invisible spirits that surround us. They exist within the vastness of space, their cries of suffering echoing in the spiritual realms. Have you ever truly felt their pain? As a monastic, you must have possessed a heart of great compassion to choose this life of renunciation. Yet, if the path to save beings feels distant, we must examine our actions. If our Dharma ceremonies and rituals do not lead sentient beings toward rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss, they risk becoming mere empty forms. This is a truth I have come to understand clearly only after transitioning into a spirit body.
The Veil of Modern Pollution
The ability to communicate with spirits who lack a physical form is an innate capacity that every human being possesses. This has been true since ancient times. However, as the world changes, we find ourselves surrounded by new technologies. While these advancements are often hailed as progress, they have become the deepest form of pollution for the human spirit. This impact is universal, affecting everyone from the youngest infants to the most elderly among us.
- The Erosion of Innate Ability: Our natural capacity to perceive and communicate with the spiritual realms is being systematically suppressed.
- Layers of Impurity: The constant stimulation and distraction of modern life act as thick layers of dust, covering our original nature.
- The Loss of Sensitivity: Because we are so preoccupied with the material world, we have become deaf to the needs of the suffering spirits who seek our help.
A Path to Restoration
Is there still a possibility for salvation? Yes, it is a reality that exists even in our modern society. At the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, the monastics and lay practitioners have dedicated themselves to a path of rigorous purification. Through the practice of seclusion and deep meditation, they are working to reclaim their innate abilities. By engaging in genuine communication with the spiritual realms, they are able to identify the beings seeking Spiritual Deliverance and prepare memorial tablets for them. This is the act of saving beings in its most authentic and sincere form.
Is this the kind of practice you wish to pursue? This potential is inherent in everyone, and it is a path that anyone can walk. It requires only that you are willing to let go of your attachments and commit to the purification of your body, mind, and spirit. Australia, as a land of purity, provides the ideal environment for this transformation. The magnetic field and the profound serenity found here cannot be compared to the chaotic energy of the city. If you truly wish to purify yourself, I encourage you to visit the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Come here to rediscover your innate abilities and return to the original intention that first led you to the path of the Buddha.
