Great Compassion in Action, Saving All Beings; Hoping for the Restoration of Buddhist Affinity in the Divine Land
Recorded and transcribed by ’s disciple, Venerable Fa Hui. On the sixteenth of August, 2025, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provided these essential teachings regarding the nature of existence.
All phenomena in this world are governed by the laws of Causal Conditions. Everything we encounter is a manifestation of these conditions, which are inherently subject to birth and death. When the causes from our past actions align, conditions gather and life arises; when those conditions disperse, life ceases. This cycle of gathering and dispersing is the fundamental rhythm of the world.
Within this constant flux of coming together and falling apart, we are all engaged in the complex work of the laws of and cause and effect. We are constantly settling debts, repaying kindness, or seeking retribution for past grievances. It is this intricate web of interactions that forms the myriad phenomena of our world. Whether in this realm or in others, all beings exist within this same framework of birth and death.
Because everything within this cycle of birth and death is transient, the people, events, objects, and environments we perceive are not permanent. They are like floating clouds or a passing dream; they are illusions, not the ultimate truth. If you can clearly recognise this reality, you will no longer be deceived by the fleeting nature of the world.
Those who truly understand this fact can:

Those who have realised their true nature are free wherever they go. They are no longer controlled by the forces of impermanence or the karma that binds ordinary beings. They are no longer subject to the influence of , attached spirits, or demon crowds. Because they have attained this clarity, they are free to live and free to die.
For those who practise the path with fierce diligence, it is possible to realise one's true nature through the Buddha's .
